Hey guys, it's Doob!

This week, while I was theory crafting some off-meta builds, I decided to test speed stacking. Not just the regular speed cap + enchants, but everything I can think of. It took me a couple of days to figure out what's stacking and what's not, but it was a wildly entertaining experiment and decided to share it with you.

I am opening a 2-week challenge with a 200K GOLD (EU) REWARD to the winner and the bragging rights to be named "The fastest twink in the world"! Additional rewards of 80k GOLD (EU) for the fastest person on a different class than the winner and 50k GOLD (EU) for the fastest person on a different class than the first 2. Will be awarded!!!

You have time untill 12 Jan (sunday, end of the day) to try and get the highest ground moving speed % you can. The value should be reproducible and a screenshot of Deja character panel should be presented as proof. We have only 3 rules:
  1. Max level 20, so both F2Ps, Vets and lvl10/11s can join.
  2. Outside help and group buffing are allowed, as long as your helper is also lvl 20 or lower.
  3. Quest/Dungeon/Specific Zone mechanics* are not allowed. General or Continent-wide** mechanics are good.
* Chromie Scenario / Garrison Mine / TBA are not ok.
** "Works on in Draenor / Pandaria" is ok.

There are at least 4 viable races, a few classes and multiple obscure items and consumables with speed buffs to be explored. Let's have some fun and show the newly grown community that twinking is more than undergeared lvl 11 Fury Warriors!

Post your theory-crafting, work in progress and flexing! Show me what you've got!

After some discussions, I am adding a few disclaimers to the rules:

- Regarding the location rule - buffs from a specific Zone/Dungeon/Scenario are not allowed, but more general things like continent-specific ("Works only in Pandaria") are ok.
- Outside help IS allowed, as long as your friend is a lvl 20 or lower. This is a fair middle ground between boring solo play and min-maxed high-level help that will limit vet/fp2s from joining.

And most importantly - I am adding 2 additional rewards:
- 80k GOLD (EU) for the fastest person on a different class than the winner
- 50k GOLD (EU) for the fastest person on a different class than the first 2

The goal is to encourage people to test Shaman / Hunter / Monk / DH / Evoker etc, instead of everybody trying a druid (which is the most popular starting point as of now).

I am setting the baseline with my final result (which can also be achieved on a F2P account), leaving buffs and gear hidden for now so that everyone can start with a clean slate.

Read the concept, thought "hey that seems fun", saw the 501% speed, and thus reconsidered any potential victory as non-existent.

For real though, great idea, could be fun to see slower classes run faster than ground mounts.

Shaman would be the next pick for me but wouldn't it be kind of funny to see what a paladin can achieve ? Or even Warriors or Death Knights for that matter, really limited movement speed.
 
Btw where would the Dark Iron racial fall ? It is a small 4% speed increase but only works inside.

It's not zone or instance specific but it does have the "inside" restriction.

I'd assume that's okay, it's a racial after all but it creates an imbalance between f2p and vets.

You tell me, don't wanna break rules :)
 
I think Warlocks have some potential, using SL gems and Burning Rush I get 219% Movement Speed.
I'm sure there are many stuff that can be stacked out there, but I'm from US so I can't really take part.
I'm just shedding some light on what people can give a shot at with locks.

Don't need gold but i take bragging rights. if my shelf can fit any more of them.
Here is low effort of what i had laying around. Know a way to get +35-40% more on use moving speed to rog but i cba.

I am fine with it. You are right it is limiting F2Ps but is available to lvl 20 and is by no means OP, so I think it's ok.

If there is a real attempt to organize something more or less useful for all participants, and not a mockery, then you should use your experience of a speedrun tournament and open to people the base of items and methods that were used there and were prohibited by the reglament.
It is not difficult and will be useful to everyone. Otherwise, it looks like a mockery of newcomers in this theme. . . beating up the babies. Аny competitive event is a balance of skills, knowledge and limitations.... so far it looks like anarchy, which means there is no hope for objectivity and fun.

There are people that are on the verge of hitting 500+ moving speed % atm. I don't know how many are trying, that have not contacted me. Of course, everything tested (both working and not usable) will be documented at the end so that it stays as a reference for future use of the whole community, but posting it while people are trying kills the brainstorming experience.

P.P. I deleted the initial screenshot so that people are not intimidated, in case they were.

If you give people only the name of the target - the blind path will be painful and may lead to nothing. They will lose time, be offended and go looking for other guides.If you give them at least basic information about the items and methods (ID item effect) - then the path itself will be interesting, instructive in development - will allow you to grow in your level above your previous self.
This is how a friendly community works.
Players will achieve with their hard work, but hiding knowledge is harmful and useless (if you do not limit the time frame).
By the way, January 12 is a very strict limit - only already prepared twinks will have time. (competition between experienced)
and I can't imagine how to track the sh*t abuse effects only by Deja///

Dobyg has said the methods would be public in the end.

Let the theorycrafters have some fun discovering the items / spells first, after that you can come in and read about the items in 2 weeks time.

I've already figured out a way to get to 511% movespeed, now I am looking for ways beyond it.

Chops, don't act offended, keep your psychology to yourself. I've been here long enough to know who's who here... and to be a radical skeptic.
I am grateful to DoByG in particular for his personal work, but there are good (organizational) reasons to fear that if the announced conditions remain unchanged, there will be no fun, but there will be a lot of misunderstanding and everything can turn into a private experiment of a narrow circle of people. And people with extensive experience in organizing a speedrun championship should understand this. And here is a platform to find out everything, discuss it and decide whether to spend time on it or not. There is no understanding yet. Everything is important. In a simple fun event, no one sets rules, deadlines, prizes for achievements that require significant effort, etc., etc. Don't diminish the significance of the event if you think it's not important for your friend to organize it.

To be honest these high speeds will require extra specific items / conditions / effects which makes said speeds more or less useless besides the fun factor.

Having a little event like that (not saying little cuz of the reward, 200K gold is insane for such an idea) allows to put the brains of the community to work and in the end perhaps we'll see an actually useful, reliable movement speed source being discovered. If that were to happen you'd only have to wait around 2 weeks to know about it.

Yeah maybe the deadline could have been pushed a bit later for more people to join in and try their builds out but let's be real : the people interested will get some stuff done within the time window.

The competiton side of thing isn't even that important as a lot of f2p don't want to sub, losing them the prize money and even for vets a lot of us may not want to sub again be that for now of in some cases ever. So by all means have fun, you're not gonna miss out on anything. If it was to be "a private experiment of a narrow circle of people" why would this thread / event / big prize have been put together.

So in short : don't take this too seriously, take it easy, have a good time and things will be smooth.

Bro they sold twinkinfo for what 10k usd to a guy and right after 180 to make xpoff. 30% of community drifted over to it with fella in question being left with cold fact of becoming coowner in this or witness a slow demise of his investment.

couldn't find windwalk enchant on looms with sockets and was cba swapping gems around for rocket feet on rog.
not sure how high synergy with speed talent that would bring.
