Suggestions on how to become Guild Master

Hello all.

I am in a situation where I own a Trial Account that has a character in a guild. The guild has been inactive for approximately 3 years. None of the members have been online for a long time. The guild armory is therefor unavailable.

I want to get in control of this guild. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to convince a Game Master to promote one of my P2P characters to becoming the guild master of this guild, even though I am not in it? (The Trial character on my 2nd account is in it though)

All idea's are most welcome!

Regards,
Blauw.

reply: cool story breh

You may be automatically promoted if you're the only active member. Also try using macros to perform guild functions (such as guild bank withdrawal), as the UI for guild management is broken due to trial status. Try to /ginvite your P2P alt, as you mat be an officer or guild master already, since you cannot see the roster. Only use GM ticket as a last resort, as drawing attention to your issue may just result in the GM removing you from the guild. Let us know how it goes!

Hello all.

How is this even possible? Was there a time that people on a trial were able to get into guilds? I gotta check out my old trial account then wich is pretty much of the same age. Good luck there.

As mentioned, be very careful about involving GMs and mentioning that you have a trial (starter) in a guild. Yes leo, trials could do many things originally. This was long before gold farmers and spammers took advantage of it and Blizz found the need for restrictions. More and more restrictions have been added, including after the time trials became starter accounts.

I got the impression from what you've said so far that you were in a guild that was probably formed and forgotten fairly quickly. If that's the case, you probably don't have access to invitations.

Also, absolutely check out your old accounts. You never know what you might have done years ago. I think most of us were noobs on our first accounts, but on the one I'm currently playing, I had played and quit long ago, and just came back to stuff around. I knew everything you could get and just wanted to have some fun for a few days without actually coming back to WoW. So in my case, I did have some decent GF items. Back then humans didn't have trinkets, and had an on use stealth detector, which was later changed to a much less effective passive one, and then removed altogether.

So far:

Haven't tried to invite anyone yet, I'll get one of my friends to create a level 1 toon on this realm soon to try and pass him a guild invite via /ginvite. I also just had a chat with a Game Master and he told me I was eligible for guildmastership on the Trial Account once I upgraded it to a normal account (which is not going to happen ofcourse). He didn't want to give me guildmastership on one of my P2P characters unfortunately.

The last solution I can come up with would be calling Blizzard and telling them I have the right to take over guild control there since I'm the last active member in that guild, even though that character is a trial account on a different account. I really hope that will work.

Why not invite one your alts to the guild? You can have two instances of WoW loaded, just alt+tab between them. That would be the ideal, have yourself as GM. Of course if you can't invite anyone, you're probably out of luck and the only use for being in a guild is the novelty factor.

Dude! I just tried that and it worked! I had the option to invite people and my 85 mage is now in the guild haha! The other 4 members have all been offline for over 4 years.

So; a little status update;

My level 20 Paladin Trial Account is member of a guild, and so is my 85 mage. My 20 Paladin Trial Account is eligible to take over guild control because we have an inactive Guild Master and I am the 2nd highest ranked member of the guild on my trial.

Unfortunately this is where it ends so far, because my 85 mage is not [YET] eligible to take over guildmastership. It is 3 ranks lower then my Trial Account char, so - what should I do?

Go offline with my Trial Pala for 30 days so that my Mage gets eligible for Gmastership? Would that work?

/blauw

Even if that works im still not even there yet.. When I press 'Dethrone' to take over gmastership on my pala it says 'You don't have permission to do that' (most probably because im a trial account, this action is blocked). When I try to access the gbank, same story. 'You dont have permission to do that'. So maybe these 2 features have been blocked by blizzard aswell just to make sure to avoid situations like these?

Yes. :) Not sure if it's 30 days or more, and not sure if you can promote him, but either way, having your 85 as GM is exactly what you want.

Leave the guild on your paladin or go offline for 30 days.

If he left the guild on his paladin that would completely defeat the purpose of the entire exercise. Did you even read the thread?

He clearly didn't but doesn't matter..

The thing that scares me most at the moment is the 'You don't have permission to do that' message. I'm afraid I can't access Guildbank because of the trial limitations. Even though after 2 hours of searching on google, I didn't find anyone mentioning the restriction on guildbank as a trial. Probably because barely anyone gets the opportunity to access one, but still, am I really the first one and only F2P thats still in a guild?

Sick! But since you already got guild control it seems like you don't have access to the guild bank unfortunately. Otherwise it would be quite cool - like a trading thing from your P2P to your F2P account (imba enchants!)

I don't have guild control yet. I wasn't able to take over Guild Control with my Trial Account. I am now going to stay offline on that Trial Account for 30+ days so I can take over Guild Control with my 85 Mage on my P2P account (It has a lower rank in the guild than my Trial Account so in order to become eligible for Guild Control I will need to make sure my Trial Account becomes inactive again).

As soon as my 85 Mage P2P character is in charge of the guild I will be able to see if my Trial Account already had access to the guildbank or not. If he didn't have access in his current rank yet, there might still be a chance he will be able to access the guildbank once I enabled that feature for him on my mage.

He asked how to become GM and I told him. Derp.

Oh alright =) I guess this trial account will be legendary if it works. Good luck!

Bad news. I did some research considering the guildbank error. I had my alt in control of a guild shut all guild bank options down for my officer alt. My officer alt was able to see the guildbank when he tried to access it but had no view of any of the guild bank tabs. He was however, even though he had NO options to have any interaction with the guild bank at all as far as possible in guild control, able to see 'Guild Bank', 'Log', 'Money Log' and 'Info'.

When I tried the exact same thing on my Paladin, it only showed a yellow message with 'You don't have permission to do that' on my screen. I guess this means this feature has been blocked by Blizzard specificly aswell, to prevent, I guess, lucky people like me, to somehow still access guildbanks.

/cry

I do still have an advantage over others though. Can create my own guildtabard :D
