Subtlety rogue main hand

As a subtlety rogue, should I use a dagger in my main hand, or another type of weapon. I know the damage of a mace/sword is higher but it is also slower. Also, because you need to have a dagger in the main hand to use backstab, you have to use sinister strike instead, and its damage output is far lower. Also, i've always presumed the fastest possible weapon is best for the off-hand, even if you give up stats and dps for it, is this true or false?

Use double daggers. In this bracket you need burst to kill targets as fast as possible. Ambush (ambush hits much harder with a dagger than with a mace/sword) and backstab will provide you with that. Every second is important.
OH can be smth fast like Doomspike or boa dagger for crippling poison procs.MH should always be Wicked dagger.

and @potatoez where does it say that ambush hits harder with a dagger? yeah i understand its usefull for opening with a backstab right after the ambush however only a complete derp would let you get off a backstab after the ambush hits.

also the white hit after an ambush is greater with a sword or mace in mh than a dagger, with a chance to crit would be better than a dagger in mh, should only use a dagger in mh if you need to get waylay procs to slow an efc, 2x maces would be your best bet imho

Daggers are the superior weapon. I've done the math, you can find it in some other topic. It beats it in DPS, in burst, and in poison procs. Don't use BoA Sword or Mace unless you want to gimp yourself.

imo MH dagger and OH either the BoA mace or Axe of the Enforcer cuz this will allow both good damage on eviscerate and also u can use backstab both helpfull as a subt rogue

I'm guessing waylay would be decent at 19, however it's trash @ 20. No rogue at 20 should be using waylay lol. Crip on all three of your weaps = 70% reduced movement speed 24/7

MH [Wicked Dagger] and [Doomspike] or [Sharpened Scarlet Kris] (better in arena games) as OH. You'll get Eviscerate faster using [Venerable Dal'Rend's Sacred Charge] as MH, but you'll lose burst and will do less cast interrupts. Overall damage with sword or dagger as MH for me was almost the same. Maybe with sword was better, but you need to sit long on target to get that result, so it works only in PvE. Dual mace or sword/mace works only in combat spec, and combat not viable in PvP, even if it does more damage then subtlety. That's what I think.
