Starting My Very First Twink - 29 Druid!

Ceari

OG
So this is my very first twink, ever. I've been searching the internet for information but only found outdated crap that is nonexistent now. Finally came upon this website and I'm hoping for the best.

Now for this Twink, I plan to make it a Druid. 20 - 29 Bracket. I'd like to use him as flag running/capping.

For equipment, I've tried to find the best for myself:

Head: Pathfinder Hat of the Monkey

Neck: River Pride Choker

Shoulder: Watchman Pauldrons

Back: Tigerstrike Mantle

Chest: Raptor Hunter Tunic

Wrist: Barbaric Bracers

Hands: Razzeric's Racing Grips

Waist: Gnomish Harm Prevention Belt

Legs: Infiltrator Pants of the Monkey

Feet: Harbinger Boots

Ring1: Deadman's Hand

Ring2: Plains Ring or Talvash's Gold Ring. I'm not sure which.

Trinket1: Inherited Insignia of the Alliance

Trinket2: Minor Recombobulator

Weapon: Sharpened Scarlet Kris

Off-Hand: Furbolg Medicine Pouch

As for the Furbolg Medicine Pouch, I'm curious as to how I'm going to get honored with Timbermaw faction. Can a level one gain reputation from them? If so, I should have no problem even with exp gain since I'm going to the 29 bracket instead of 19.

I haven't started on a Talent Spec just yet because I've been stuck on gear choices for the past three days. Heck, I have been stuck on GEAR and haven't even looked at enchants yet either. It's all confusing at the beginning. -- I've already purchased the Pathfinder Hat of the Monkey, Tigerstrike Mantle, and the Infiltrator Pants of the Monkey from the auction house.

ANY advice, or anything, would be greatly appreciated.

**EDIT: Used wowhead.com's talent calulator, came up with:

Balance (0 points)

None

Feral Combat (13 points)

5/5 Feral Aggression

3/3 Feral Instinct

3/3 Thick Hide

2/2 Feral Swiftness

Restoration (7 points)

5/5 Furor

2/3 Natural Shapeshifter

Gratz on your first twink and picking the 29 bracket! Also welcome to our community, im Moderator Naturaltalnt.

I would take 1 out of natural shapeshifter and pickup survival instincts, 30% hp for 20 second can be huge, most FC die due to focus fire for 30 seconds or so, this helps to off set that by some.

Your gear looks pretty solid (no idea regarding weapon), but I would pick up a AGM if you can in your 2nd trinket slot. (AGM is gotten from the gurubashi arena in STV, get 12 tokens then turn them in to the goblin watching).

Enchants are pretty easy. Im going to name current enchants, but alot of stuff is changing in 3.1

150 hp to chest

100 hp to helm (libram) (changing)

40 sta 15 agi leg armor to pants (changing)

7 sta to boots

9 sta to bracer

15 agi to gloves

70 armor, 3 agi, 3 resistance to cape (its all personal preference)

I heard that it was quite difficult to get that trinket. Regarding those (changing) enchants, 'think I should just wait to enchant those certain items with expensive ones 'till the patch comes out? So I don't go wasting 150g or so on something that becomes moot.

I do have a level 80 Druid, currently Balance spec but is mainly Restoration. She can help me farm a few things as well. I've been getting different answers on all my questions..

1. Timbermaw Rep. - I just have to follow a friend around and let them kill, yeah? I can do it at level one?

2. For the "world drops" such as River Pride Choker, should I try to farm those? Or do you think it'd be better to just hope it goes on the AH. ;x .. or switch neck items.

AGM is only as diffcult as you make it, generally you will need 1 80 friend thats decent at pvp, and you should try at off hours (12 pm 3 am 6 am 9 am) etc. it happens every 3 hours.

A trick we use as twinks is kill your self, don't realse from your body and have some one kill w/e you need close by, I believe this applys to rep as well.

World drops you almost never ever wanna try and farm with such low drop rates, you just gotta save some extra cash on the side and buy it off the AH when it comes aviable.

Alright, I'll go for the trinket. Hopefully I'll get it. :l I know I've prevented plenty of people from getting it, but never actually went for it myself.

Now waiting for the AH is an okay idea for myself, I'm Herbalism and Alchemy on my 80 Druid, but the server is kind of on the low-populated end.

**EDIT: Just tried my first time at the Arena.. Had an 80 Huntard friend with me, but two Horde Paladins and of course a Death Knight were there. The three Horde started fighting each other and pulled themselves up the steps.. So I went for the chest but only was there for 3sec. ;x

the Medicine pouch isn't too hard to get, just die and follow a higher lvl friend around while in ghost form as they kill furbolgs.

Consider this gear:

Head: +14 stam leather helm.

Wrist: Gallan cuffs or +8 stam leather bracers.

Hands: Razzeric's Racing Grips or 7/7 of the eagle.

Waist: Gnomish Harm Prevention Belt or girdle of the blindwatcher.

Legs: Infiltrator Pants of the Eagle, 9/9.

Feet: Harbinger Boots or AB boots (ab boots suggested when you don't have the debuff)

Ring1: Deadman's Hand

Ring2: Plains Ring

Ring3:Talvash's Gold Ring

Ring4: Charged gear of the monkey/eagle/stamina (rare)

yes, unless they changed it.

Feral Combat (13 points)

5/5 Feral Aggression

2/3 Feral Instinct

3/3 Thick Hide

1/1 Survival instincts

2/2 Feral Swiftness

Restoration (7 points)

5/5 Furor

2/3 Natural Shapeshifter

OR

2/2 imp motw

3/3 reduced interruption

2/3 natural shapeshifter

the latter resto bit is suggested as of 3.1 because imp motw gives you an increase to stats. also, i've never found furor to be a really good talent for druid FCs unless they have feral charge.

I've offered a few friends 100g for who helps me to get the 12 Trinkets to create the Grand Arena Trinket. Just got the first to start the quest, so now.. 12 more to go!

Lemmie post this and I'll compare your suggestions to what I've got written down and I'll see what's goin' on.

**EDIT:

Gallan Cuffs are +7 Intellect and +3 Stamina.

"8 Stamina Bracers" Are you talking about Black Wolf Bracers? Those drop from SFK, so that would be okay.. But what about the Agility from Barbaric Bracers?

I like the "Use:" that the Gnomish Harm Prevention Belt than just the Stam/Int from the Girdle of the Blindwatcher.

I already have 9/9 Infiltrator Pants of the Monkey, so I'm fine on that part.

I'll get the AB boots when I get the honor and requirements for it.

Why so many different rings?

**EDIT Again: Yay, just got my second trinket.

and they are level 35+. i'm not sure if enchants are different in 3.1, but pre-3.1 you can get a +12 stamina enchant on gallan cuffs, making them very good.

either black wolf bracers or a green +8 stam bracers...they are practically the same thing.

when you are a 29 FC/capper (from your OP), agility doesn't do much for you. it gives you a little more dodge and +2 armor per 1 agility (not much), but stamina is the main stat you should go for.

I like the "Use:" that the Gnomish Harm Prevention Belt than just the Stam/Int from the Girdle of the Blindwatcher.

but the use has a what, 1 hour cooldown? so get both. use the harm prevention one when you can use the 'use', and use the girdle of the blindwatcher when it is on CD (cooldown).

I already have 9/9 Infiltrator Pants of the Monkey, so I'm fine on that part.

intellect > agility

Why so many different rings?

DMH and charged gears are technically the best rings, but you can go with the other two if you aren't willing to run for DMH/charged gears, which are rare drops.

Alright well I've looked at your suggestions again.. With this low populated server, not many things go up on the AH. I have Pathfinder Hat of the Monkey 9/9, and Infiltrator Pants of the Monkey 9/9 as well. Also have Tigerstrike Mantle along with Watchman Pauldrons.

Should I really farm/wait for the AH for those two items? [ +14 Stamina and the 'of the Eagle' ] Switch to Hunter..? Or just go with what I have? I'll be getting the +8 Stamina Bracers and the Girdle waist as well as the Charged Gear of Stamina.

i'd wait until 3.1 until you want to enchant the monkey items, and search the AH for the other items during this time frame. this is because the enchants and stuff are going to change so you might as well just wait instead of applying enchants now.

regarding what you should do after 3.1 -- i like to make my twinks as good as i can without sacraficing lots of effort. personally i like to wait for the item to come up on the AH as it doesn't take much effort to look up items for me, but then again i'm pretty patient with that too. it all depends on wether or not you're willing to be patient and wait for those items or to enchant your current items right after 3.1. there isn't necessarily a stable answer here...you just gotta make your own choice.

I've been checking the AH every few hours, nothing's been popping up at the moment. But I found a guy that's in a guild that supposedly farms world drops.. So maybe they'll get lucky. I told him to add me to his list, I've added him to mine and bug him once or twice a day now. Maybe I'll make a Hunter alt for when I get bored while finishing up the gear for this twink.

There's another option if you're having difficulty finding AH gear.

You can always make another twink on a more populated server in Whirlwind, Cyclone or Rampage Battlegroups and join a twink guild on that server. Most of the people in the twink guilds are fairly helpful and will help run you through instances, or will have spare gear in the guild bank. I know mine does on Illidan :)

I doubt there'd be a guild out there that wants someone coming along and like.. "Hi can I join your guild? Can I have items?" ;x.. It's a nice idea, but I just don't see people doing that. I haven't had luck with that kind of stuff. Or..? Maybe I can bug you on Illidan. :D

Just a question about Gnomish Harm Prevention Belt. I dropped JC and picked up eng after reading this thread. Then I learned that in order to learn Gnome Engineering you have to have minimum skill 200 AND be level 30. Have you been able to create this item while remaining below level 30?

i'm not sure if you can, but the item tooltip says it requires 215 engineering and it is BoE. so assumably you should be able to get to 215, buy the item off the AH, and equip it.
