Staff of Jordan vs. Heirloom Weapons in Cata

Hello, as far as i see a SoJ with 17 sta , 22 int , 11 spi lost its BiS status (dmg wise) vs any of the Heirloom Caster Weapons _IF_ the values here : Level 39 Heirlooms in Cataclysm are right

eg.: Dignified Headmasters Charge : 17 sta, 14 int , 11 crit and 75 sp wtf..

lets hope they just forgot to apply the SP to SoJ yet.

Or u think its intended ? - mho SoJ woudnt be much of an epic anymore compared to a heirloom (what shall have same stats as a RARE item of same lvl)

It is intended.

SoJ has, like any other pre-TBC item, the old template where there is/was no Weap dam converted to SP (note that the tBC and WotLK SP Weaps have much less Weap Dam), and thus these SP got removed with Cata.

But the Heirlooms have the new template (Weap Dam scales down once you surpass Lvl 60, and have Weap dam converted to SP, even in lowlvl where actually zero Weap Dam is converted in some SP), and that SP on these Weaps continue to exist after Cata hits.

Also, note that the Armor pieces dont have SP anymore on them.

Lets hope, they redesign SoJ then (or add a new epic for this lvl range) , its a shame that such a great Epic isnt epic at all anymore.

And yes, i knew that all armor pieces lost AP and/or SP , so hoped that the sp would remain on weapons. But wasnt aware of the template/weapon dmg convert thing.

Good to know.

The spellpower is still there in the int.. SoJ is actually improving in Cata, with its gain in stamina, but heirloom weapons are improving even more with their disgusting amount of spellpower.
