Just saw Infinity war the other day, and I hate to say it, but Heath Ledger's Joker has been beat out as my personal favorite. Thanos has been executed so well, despite the fact that he's 80+% CG. Josh Brolin was born to play this role. He captures the emotions of a villain so powerful and psychopathic, yet completely understanding in rationale. He's also very dead-set in his motive.
(SPOILERS)
I really love the fact that he has mercy for those he doesn't see as a threat to him. He left Peter Quill alive, along with Thor since he was incapacitated. He also could have crushed Scarlett Witch easily, but in the end he knew he was going to get what he wanted, and he got just that. He only killed who he thought was necessary, and left everyone else by chance with his final card. It's awesome to see a movie end on a hopeless note, even though we know the Avengers will come out winning by part 2.
I'm hoping they keep certain characters such as Gamora and Loki dead. Especially when they were killed before the genocide happened. So if they somehow reverse it, maybe they aren't within reach of saving since they died separate to that event.
My guess is that Vision was able to be uploaded so he will live on, despite everyone thinking he was dead since the gem was extracted. But I honestly couldn't care if he was a goner. He's pretty weak, and imo kind of a dull character despite his hype in AoU.
Gamora might stay dead, and Thanos could join her in that soul-realm after he's defeated by the Avengers in part 2, and likely be at peace with one another. He basically saw her as a child there after he committed the genocide (correct me if I'm wrong) so he could probably go there at any point and maybe after death.
Loki is also likely perma-dead. Though I guess it would be nice for the one thing Thor has left to return. But where's the stakes in that?
Anyone killed by the genocide is likely safe. Since many of the ones dead have future movies.
Yeah I'm a nerd I know.
