Spectators can return flags with the addon.

As much as I love the usefulness of the spectator add on, this is a huge problem. It should be disallowed for the TC (as it sits now) until the fix. If and when it gets fixed bring it back. We need this and I hope it gets fixed!
Read this:
Not really an issue, since you can see who touches a flag.
But I guess you could make spectating characters with almost similar names as the players in the gulch. It might fool some :p

how is it not an (potential) issue?

spectator picks up flag/returns flag whatever

team(s) rightly cry about it

*RESTART MATCH* - only obvious solution unless you know a way to pause the game..?

I don't know how the spectator addon works, but from some comments I assume they have to be invited in some way to spectate? Even so, to have no plan is an invitation for disaster.

I find it hard to believe the average guy off the street will be invited to spectate.

That's the thing tho! It could be completely by accident. Say he is zooming in to get the action of a flag carrier under heavy pressure. He clicks to adjust his camera angle and.... shit folks, we now have a problem, that is completely unintentional and completely real.

Then they'll just have to be responsible and try not to outclick 5-10 players who are scrolling with all their might. Just needs responsible players. What if a referee touches a ball in a sports game? Same thing. I am sure the powers that be will figure it out without needing a whole debate on TI.

Awful comparison. If a ball hits a ref in a soccer match, it will dribble away. A better example is a ball hitting a ref inside the six yard box, which is similar to the magnitude of a spectator returning a flag.

But without this post on TI how would we even know there was a problem?

I dont even understand why this is a thing, like what the fuck is Blizzard thinking with something like this being functional? How could this be good for anything in any way?

I don't care if the comparison is good. The rest of my post stands.

I too am having a hard time seeing how this will be a problem. People needs to be invited into groups to spectate, and you can see whoever touches the flag in BGchat

That is why they have us. To find the problems for them and report them. It has been reported by the person that found it, hasn't it? One would hope so.

How do people here have 0 ms....

It is technically impossible to have zero latency. Even when you ping your own computer you have a minuscule amount of latency due to the parasitic loss. "I can't change the laws of physics, Jim!"
We can't transmit data instantly, except maybe in the case of quantum entanglements.

People are just being paranoid. I guess they figure if the opportunity presents itself, someone will cheat.
I have a revelation for them. Not everyone is like that. There are some honest people out there, believe it or not. Just because they would seize the opportunity to cheat( not that I am saying they would) does not mean everyone will.

Unless you solved both the no-teleportation theorem and the no-communication theorem, it's not even a maybe.
