Something fishy is going on with iPvP...

So, I've been non-stop queuing BGs on my Prot Warrior at level 50 and I've noticed some very odd occurrences when it comes to stats, especially HP.

Yesterday, I seemed to be getting 15,120 HP when inside the BG. However, at total random, it would instead put me at 14,470. I could fix it by switching to another spec, then switching back to Prot. I'd be at 15,120 again. No other changes at all.

Then, this morning I started queuing, and all of a sudden my HP was over 18k?

No changes to the character at all gear or talent wise. What's the deal? Has anyone else notice d some weird stuff happening?

This sounds strange, I have not noticed any difference at all, an I keep a close eye on my stats ;) I guess you dident have food or elexir buffs active?

I noticed today on my level 29 prot warrior that I had more HP then normal, since legion pre-patch its been 5.5k in bgs, scaled down from 7.4k outside. Today I did a bg and it was 6.7k so, something has changed.

I don't play with consumables usually.
Maybe the buffed the Prot Warrior HP nerf they seem to have. I can't understand why Prot Warriors have the lowest health of the Warrior specs to be honest. Would be good if they got extra health.
This is my guess, but it doesn't explain the original issue that simply toggling specs fixes. I also think it odd that they'd change the stat templates without any sort of announcement or patch.

Also, at least in my bracket and endgame, Prot warriors do just fine iwth less HP. Ignore Pain is fucking busted. I easily top damage and rarely die.

You know how our engi trinkets go red every time we log? It might have someething to do with that, like it counts them, then it doesn't, then you refresh it and it counts them again

Checked my 20 Prot this morning and it certainly has got a health buff in instanced PvP. I was excited but then I read the update this morning.....

So we got more health but now take more damage........ that makes sense.......doesn't it......

This explains why I felt like I was dying FASTER despite having more HP >_<
I thought I was just bad or something.

The stats your character will have in a battleground is determined by a pre-defined template system, which varies based on what spec you're running in a battleground.

That said, a prot warrior having lower hp than some other specs (or if hp buffed, take more damage) was intentional on part of blizzard, as part of continuing (among other) approaches to tanks in PvP since WoD (or older). To give one example: somewhere in WoD, all tank specs received 15% more damage than other specs in PvP, through a implemented passive similar to battle fatigue to reduce some formerly insane healing outputs in PvP. Even way before WoD, like during MoP, there were stuffs like this (3 years ago!) done and tried by blizzard.

These approaches was also done to try to limit situations regarding tanks in PvP that were deemed problematic, like situations in which a tank deals as much damage as dedicated dps specs while having the survivability of a tank (blood dks of old come to mind, especially cata blood dks among other examples), among other examples of old that were viewed as examples of tanks being problematic for PvP.
Next time please try reading a post before responding, thanks.
