Just thought i'd post some Weapon comparisons in case anybody is interested.
Bare in mind gems aren't yet updated on Wowhead so nothing is definitely BiS for lots of classes as of yet.

Strength 2Handers - Item Comparison Tool - World of Warcraft

Caster - Item Comparison Tool - World of Warcraft (I haven't included a lot of the ICC weapons due to the fact all of them lack Int, making them pretty shitty I think.)

This is all i've done for now but it's just so people can see what things will sort of be like.

You can get a rough idea of how much stats a gem will give by comparing the normal and heroic versions of any ICC weapon. There is an ilvl difference between them but most of the items from Naxx25 onwards have around about the same power after the squish. Nearly all the weapon comparisons show that a socket costs 8 stats (usually 4 primary + 4 secondary, 50% more for stamina) so gems should grant something like 8 primary or 16 secondary stats in WoD.

Another way to estimate it is using the socket bonuses: Pre-squish, an item with 1 socket has a 4 str bonus (so equal to 1/5th of an epic gem). Post-squish, that socket bonus is reduced to 2str, so if the ratio stays the same then gems should give about 10 of a primary or 20 of a secondary.

Honestly what Im hoping for along with the squish is like queueing like ICC with a raid finder like system and get queued with 80's+ but they are scaled down to 80. That'd be cool.

So, so unlikely, and It would be a large feature they'd advertise if they are to do it.

so far that is not what the alpha data base given to wowhead and others show, may be in error, and maybe not? i did this thread in 70 bracket, but as you see i glanced over CATA and MOP gems too.

in the tweet he says: gems got some unique squishing rules, but LK gems should be better than equal quality BC gems above level 70.

unique, i would say interesting, all in all rather vague, and "should be" does not equal "will be"



 
So, does this mean that 85's with MoP armor wont be BIS anymore? because pink cata items have a decent amount of gem slots so im sure this would give the cata gear a good boost compared to the MoP gear.

Not sure, but in my opinion I kinda hope its like that, personally I like the who thing of using the previous expansions gear, feels nice to me.
