Some say the end is near

cope

Grandfathered
Some say we'll see Armageddon soon,

I certainly hope we will,

I sure could use a vacation from this.

Tool sucks. But, that's just like, my opinion, man.
Probably one the best in the past few decades. The drummer is a monster and Maynard is in a league of his own... Their songs are so complex, the time signatures are just ridiculous. In my top 2 easy.

Yeah, it's subjective. Maynards voice sounds like a sickly mallard ripping a fat, vicious dump into a pond imo. As someone who used to be really into traditional death metal, they're technical prowess is laughable to me.

It's that way for me with Rush, I can't stand the singer... And I know they are a solid band with probably one of the best drummers of all time but I can't get over his sound, it's horrid.

Tool, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd are top 3 for me. I probably should be a stoner with those choices but am not lol

Rush is actually a band of Canadian gnomes.

So, the epic rock with a bit of a psychedelic twist. Psychedelic pop and rock from the late 60s was probably the peak of musical creativity. Tool feels too much like a depressed drug-addict for me though lol. Zeppelin ripped off a lot of blues artists, but they made the songs heavier and did it with what I dare describe as a Caucasian style, which isn't too inappropriate considering the blues was totally a black thing when it started. I think "Down by the seaside" is the song where their creative prowess shines the most though. Pink Floyd were definitely pioneers for the psychedelic stuff, but the Beatles did it first as far as I know. My parents listened to so much damned Pink Floyd when I was growing up that now I just find them overrated.

first time I did shrooms was at a tool concert was an amazing concert
Yeah, one of their biggest draws and claim to fame is people on drugs, mainly hallucinogenics. Maynard even stated that most of the material was inspired by his acid trips. As someone that used to experiment with drugs in my late teenage years and early 20s I found them entertaining. Now that I'm always sober they seem super boring. When the Feds finally remove cannabis from the schedule 1 list and the country starts becoming less ignorant about the plant and stops listening to the same propaganda that's been around for decades, I'll definitely be enjoying my sativa dominant flowers :)

Funny you should say that because me and my older brother used to always joke about how Geddy Lee sounds like a gnome when he's singing (except for on the temples of syrinx) .

At this point I feel like we need a musical discussion thread or something since the "currently listening to" thread pretty much died anyways. I just fucking love music.....well, most of it.

He had a lot to say.
He had a lot of nothing to say.
We'll miss him.

Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice that was strong and loud.
We'll miss him.

Maybe a new thread would be best. This one started with one of the edgiest edgelord songs ever made

Yeah, standing above the crowd,
He had a voice that was strong and loud and I
Swallowed his facade 'cause I'm so
Eager to identify with
Someone above the ground,
Someone who seemed to feel the same...

@cope I don't think we see another Tool album, I really don't. He's not going to put something out if he doesn't have anything to say. You look at his early stuff, like APC and early Tool-Opiate he was pissed off at God and how he could allow his mother to be in such pain. The arch from that to 10,000 days is just awesome and that entire album is exetremily spiritual. People like to remember him for his pissed off stuff but he's really changed his views IMO. You look at Right in Two, that song is completely about how you would be foolish not to think there is something greater in this world. That entire album is about his mother suffering for "10,000 days" and how he thinks she has her wings now and is at piece. Humbling River - Pusicfer is another very strong one. Anyways great stuff, I think his story is told.
