So will Prot Warrior DPS be worthless after 5.3 comes out?

I have an Alliance Warrior that I absolutely loved leveling purely as Prot sitting at 76 or so I believe. As the plate DPS heirlooms are the only true complete set I have, I was contemplating rolling a Warrior and giving Prot a shot, but have heard Shield Slam will be taking a big hit. IYO, would it still be worth giving it a shot?

Correct me if im wrong, but i think its only the ap scaling thats getting reduced to 50% from 100%, and as far as i've gatherd its the base damage thats really high. So i dont think it'll matter too much

Being an FC would be a bad idea if you went protection so dps would be the only reason to go protection come 5.3.

Prot will still be competitive, and is still an amazing class to bring since it can both FC and dps effectively.

It will a bad idea for any prot spec to be a flag carrier come 5.3. As soon as the pick up the flag they automatically get a 50% additional damage debuff before the stacks start rolling in. All other specs only get a 20% one.

Thank you for the correction Blinka. Many of the 5.3 changes are only for end game.
