First thing I did to prevent dumb shit like that from happening.

Now even my friends irl are playing that game... it's pissing me off.

Second, it's a simple game and, like Grunge said, you don't sacrifice your social life. It's a quick get in and get out no bullshit game and it's open to your imagination. I currently have a server running for my IRL friends and I and I seriously can say I NEVER had this much fun playing WoW.
Also, there are so many routes you can take when you play this game. You aren't defined to any one goal. You can log on and farm materials to build a house, sell the materials to other players on your server, (I don't play on those cheap servers where everyone has unlimited resources, THAT gets boring in 5 seconds) you can slay monsters solo or with friends, you can dig into the depths of the earth for diamonds or dungeons, or build an obelisk that will pierce the heavens. Or you can draw pixel art and make a working calculator. There is literally no end to what you can do, you are only limited by your imagination and frankly WoW and other mainstream games are ruining the imaginative mind of today's youth. My video game design class is a prime example of that.
Seriously Vort, pick up a copy (pirate it or pay for it, I don't care) and play it. You'll love it. It's a nice, relaxing escape from the world for a bit while not having to worry about grinding for gear or leveling your character.

I did this a long time ago, once I finished the building that reached the max hight I made a sort of outer wall around it that was low near the door and went higher as it reached the back, was bored pretty much the entire time.
Not to mention the max hight is fucking weak.
