Maybe I am the only having this problem, but I managed to get a macro working yesterday that changes the range in which lightning appear to 0 (kinda disabling it entirely).

Will post it later to anyone interested.

Yeah, I also did some "experimenting" after you pointed-out the cause of our mysterious environmental-lighting change. ;)

Just in case it could be of use to anyone, here's the stuff that I ended up making (...standard "disclaimers" apply, blah, blah)...

...something you can paste into Chat to simply "Turn off 'dem lights!" and be done with it:

...a tiny Macro you can use to toggle all of the environmental lights On/Off:

/run SetCVar("maxLightDist",2048-GetCVar("maxLightDist"))

...a more elaborate Macro you can use to cycle between the default ("Max-Distance") lights, my preferred ("Close-range") lights, and no ("Off") lights.

not sure if this is widely known or not but you can't apply new ring enchants while your sub is inactive

Nope seems to just be the ring Chants just tested without applying, The new ring chants wont let you cast it.

I also managed to discover two other console commands.

  • /console emphasizeMySpellEffects 0
It makes other players' spells less intense if you type 1 or equal to yours if you type 0. Usually, this is always turned on 1. Might be interesting to see it on BGs.
  • /console violenceLevel 5
Adds blood effects to attacks, 0 being no blood and 5 being (suposedly) a lot of blood. It doesn't make much difference, but it's nice to have blood effects again.

I had a sub this month (so sadly wasted the three free days vets are currently getting :() and have spent some time on my high level alts. When 8.2 dropped my high level alts got a mail from Nat Pagle explaining my Azure Water Strider had lost its ability to walk on water but the solution was the Anglers' Water Strider attached, which would give all mounts the ability to walk on water.

My vets didn't get these, so one of my high level alts had to go to their Garrison & buy them from Nat for all the other alts (they are "Binds to Blizzard account" so can be mailed cross-faction) one at a time for 40g. Nice idea for all mounts but what a PITA to implement.

Don't miss this if you use this mount & are friendly with Nat & co.

On the plus side whilst wandering around New Dalaran I discovered Talia Direhorn in Windrunner’s Sanctuary who could sell me
Horde Glider Kits for 3 x Mark of Honor. I'd not discovered these before so today was not all bad.

I'd imagine that neither of these are very noticeable... accept when an entire raid is burning-down the final boss, who would then look like a blinding-glowy-blood-fountain! :eek:

I believe they only ever offer those to accounts w/o gametime or whose(?) gametime ended a long time ago.

I missed 2-3 promotions like that because my sub ended just a bit before they new patches launch and the free days giveaways.

Thanks for the heads up. I seemed to have missed this one.
I was last sub'd in Mar this year, but I'm sure a few days after my sub ended I got the 3 day trial at the end of Mar or start of Apr.
But seems I've missed out this time round :(

They are per character but apply to every mount but the Sky Golem (and its ilk) and work like gems in items. If you replace it the previous one gets destroyed so you cant just swap from no daze to water walk to cross a lake then switch back to daze unless you keep stacks of them in your bags
