Shami question

So i would like to make a 39 shaman but i plan on mostly Qing up solo. My question is are the specs other than resto "ok" at 39. I would like to be able to do some DPS because i know healing pugs can become very frustrating sometime. So i just want some opinions on the DPS/solo abilities of the shaman in this bracket. FYI i have never played a shaman

yes. espacially an elemental shamans heals are powerful enough to keep a teammate alive if needed. and its a lot of fun to "sprrrzzzll" into a zerg^^

be sure to gear for every spec. it is worth it.

I can't recommend you any spec because i don't know if you like to cast or to do close combat, so i would recommend you to get the gear for every spec and just try it out !

- With elemental you do big crits, dps well, and heal pretty good, but i don't know if you have a good survability.

- With enhance you do big critsand dps well, but you don't have a good survability, that's for sure.

- With resto you have a very good survability, you heal very well, and your dps is not bad at all (Not as good as elemental or enhance, but still OK)

Hope i helped you,

Hôp.

thank you very much, i just wanted to get a feel for the shami class in this bracket. I just did not want to start a class this is not ok for solo Q because that is what i do most of the time. This information is very helpful and further confirms my decision to make a shami.

enhance shamans can have plenty of survivability if they get alternate gear

for sure though if you're going for phat crits you're not going to have much.

1h enhance (either spellhance or full melee gear) has a lot better survivability than 2h enhance or imo ele. A lot of the people might complain because they arent willing to learn 1h or even try it once or twice. But if you are willing to actually play with skill and dont mind not getting big crits then 1h enhance will leave you very happy in the long run.

If you are set on an elemental 39 shaman you need to go full elemental which means giving up instant ghost wolf. This is fune if you roll with a team, but solo you might find it tough going.

There has been a 39 Enhance shammy in my BG that has been wiping up anybody he comes across.

Name of Smoobies. Can't find him on the armory though for some reason.

Unbuffed, my 39 Enhance Sham has around 2650HP/149SP in HP gear, and 2450HP/218SP in SP gear.... unbuffed. (Kings/Fort - over 3000HP)

I have somewheres around 3100mana.

I still get ~800+ crits with FrostShock sometimes, LB always hits for 400+... etc.

I like Enhance because of:

+10% INT

+5 crit

+10% HP

+30% SP/Heals on Flametongue/Earthliving.

-30% slows

instawolf

shock spell mana cost reduced 45%

improved water shield, I don't really go OOM that much.

I throw the other 5pts in Concussion.

I realize I'm using the spec for the complete opposite of what it was intended for, but it really works amazing with the 1H/Shield non-WF combo.

I tried full Elemental, and full Resto... I didn't like either of them. Was dying too quickly, was OOM too quickly. instawolf is one of my key kiting techniques, it really increases survivability. As well as chasing down flag carriers, you don't lose those precious few seconds.

But... all depends on your playstyle. :)
