hi,
ive always loved the idea of having a warrior twink with shadowmourne
you guys think its viable in SL or not at all being thats its lvl 30
 
Some comparison to the maxed iLvL 52 Artifact at 39 (using my DH's Artys).
  • Weapon dmg: 6.5 vs 8.5 [Arty better]
  • Main Stat: 17 (including Socket Bonus) vs 9 [Shadowmourne better]
  • Stamina: 10 vs 14 [Arty better]
  • Secondaries (combined): 12 vs 16 [Arty better]
  • Sockets: 3 vs none [Shadowmourne better]
  • Weapon Proc/Enchantment: mini Crusader & Lightless Force vs various Enchants [Unk winner]
The unfortunate part is Shadowmourne's iLvL which will prohibit you from using the largest Gems so you'll be stuck with 2/2 or +3's instead of the better +6/7's. All in all I think it's a fine substitute for an iLvL 52 Artifact at 39 and probably does very similar damage.

You always forget about the 5/6 gems lol

I have a feeling the 5str gem and 5int gem from mora will be permanent now.. I hope it will be, already put all my toons which need these 2 gems on daily farm mode for the past few weeks.. Equipping them causes item's stats to surpass many high ilvl gears even in the 40s bracket
 
@Merlin While I'd love to have your enthusiasm and hope, I've been burned by Blizz's all mighty Nerf bat (with it's nuclear tip against Twinks) far too many times. If it's been a few months and they're still untouched then you bet I'll be farming them as well. My problem right now is I have my hands in way too many cookie jars simultaneously. Trying to Twink multiple Levels with multiple Toons with all this new access to XPac content has me frazzled to say the least.

I have shadowmourne on my 35 (old 90 MoP alt). Unfortunately its a dps loss compared to SoO socket weapons / HC Gurthalak from DS but if you're fury for the memes then why not.
On the other side I've maybe gotten 1 arena pop in 2 months in the lvl 30 EU bracket

You triggered my Cata PTSD with Gurthalak melees, legendary staff and HC cunning SP's and fire mages, HC vial, 2 piece rogues with legendary daggers and tripple dps comps and warrior turtle cleaves (double healer) in 3s.

You forgot Bone Link Fetish the melee trinket that proc'd a whirlwind for a few k dmg.
Gurthalak seems to have its proc rate significantly nerfed compared to OG Cata days where one bladestorm would pop 5 tentacles, now if you got 2 up at the same time you can consider your self extremely lucky, they do crazy amounts of dmg tho, they can potentially solo people when procd
Edit: The lvl 35 warrior in my sig was running both the trinket and gurthalak during Cata
