Shadowfang not BiS

Tiibi

Legend
Or is it?

With the item scaling it seems to me that Shadowfang is actually quite weak.
Shadowfang
21-41 Damage (11.48 DPS)
7 Agility
Chance on hit: Shadow Bolt for 39 shadow damage.

Now, this seems pretty good, but if you compare it to the heirloom weapons, it looks so, so weak.
Venerable Mass of McGowan
30-57 (15.56 DPS)
7 Stamina
5 Agility
3 Crit
3 Haste

The overall damage just seems so much higher on the heirloom. I've not testet this but I'm pretty damn sure that 39 shadow damage once a while, wount make up for the; 9-16 Damage (4.08 DPS) which you'll be getting from the heirlooms.

Does anyone know which weapons are BiS for rogue/monk at 20? And please, don't say Shadowfang just because it's badass to have. I'm looking for best in slot gear, so if the heirloom item is better, I'm not going to waste my time farming Shadowfang on my f2p.

Thanks for commenting, but... I can't really use it for anything. Prove it, show it, or atleast tell me why they're better. Everyone can come and say Shadowfang is bis.

BiS mog! And who's to say scaling will forever remain the same, as well as the drop rate. What can change once, can change again. I'm not saying I need dual Shadowfangs on all my agility users, but I don't want to miss the opportunity to get at least one now.

ok maybe just two. and an assassin's blades is all i need. and gloomshroud armor. that, and the two shadowfangs and the assassin's blade and i'll be good.and a doomspike from BFD and I'll be good. so just the two shadowfangs, the assassin's blade, the gloomshroud armor, one doomspike for mogging, and I'll be good to go, once I get all that for my alliance rogue too.

nevermind the monks i still need to make.

You asked why people say its bis, i just told you why it's considered bis. It's not the weapon damage, and it's not the proc. It's the agi, and its always been the agi. As for arguing crit over pure agi, or stam vs haste etc, it's all preference. Up to you to decide what you want out of your character. Cheers.

I understand what you're saying, and I truely agree. I will probably be farming SF aswell (If i get the time for it), but it's not bis, is it?

Hi there, first post here but a long time follower. From what I'm seeing as a f2p rogue, overall base damage is 5 points higher while using 2 BoA's (Venerable Mass and Venerable Dal'rend), but with one Shadowfang and a BoA my Ambush, sinister strikes and my Eviscerate do more damage.

2 BoA's = Base Ambush: 477 Sinister S.: 246 Evisc.: 480 on 5cp

1 Shadowfang and 1 BoA= Base Ambush: 479 Sinister S.:247 Evisc.: 487 on 5cp

The weapon proc is nice, it crits for 55/56 out of bg scaling, so I guess it might crit for 77/78 in bg's. I've had back to back procs too.

Just my 2 cents!

Isn't Eviscerate...STATIC DAMAGE. ?

All I know is my eviscerate does more damage with shadowfang equipped. So I guess agility makes the difference.

If you're a BG hero and you don't care about BiS mog = don't farm
If you like to wargame/skirmish and or care about Bis mog = farm

Boa>Shadowfang.

On the right we examine the 2 in detail. Wowhead comment said SF procs 11 times out of 200 cast so lets break it down.

Even if you give the proc a healthy 27% crit chance and no other yellows crit, which won't be the case, its still not better.

BoA mace or sword>everything for any rogue (cept mut, you have no choice). Fast dagger stat offhand as always.

Tacticz, that's scaled up for BGs? Hmm...and we'll scale up for skirmishes, eventually. But for duels and traditional f2p arenas—maybe BiS still?
