Shadowfang information from gm

I prefer thottbot when I need help with quests :p

thott has a better item search thing, but wowhead is better for spawn locations etc since thott seems to have a lot of old data in that regard.

also i might have to farm SFK soon, i'll post a SS if i get lucky ;)

Or, nobody actually does full clears anymore because they assume it only drops off the bosses since thats what all the thottbot information has led people to believe.

A good exsame of this is the ruby shades, people say on thottbot that they have been removed from the game, they havent, they just have a bad respawn time in the vendor. I got one last weekend.

Maybe if people stopped believing that they drop just from the bosses, people would run the entire instance and actually have a screenshot to post.

Because people don't regularly clear sfk on a daily basis just for leveling. And those people never have mods that upload to wowhead. If shadowfang dropped off of regular mobs there would be a record of it.

I don't really see the use of this thread. But thottbot fails.

What's with all the hate for Thottbot ?

All sites collecting WoW item data are bound to have obsolete or wrong info there, as only Blizzard knows the exact truth.

All these sites have to half-guess and project statistical analysis on drop rates.

If you think sites like Wowhead don't get things wrong, think again.

Thottbot is great for quest tracking, taken from real experience of real people.

The forums there also have moderators that give you *a lot* more slack than other sites.

Take it from me ...

as for the GM telling you they try to stay away from twinks...

well i think the GMs tells what they want to happen and forget that they are not part of the development team. because blue post ont he forum told us that twinks is a game withing this game, a goal like non-others and that they aren'T trying to do anything against it. while GMs in game seems to mostly be against twinks and tell us they are trying to ruin it every time they can !

so seriously, i wouldn't take the GM seriously about that argument !

BTW, thottbot checks also from private servers, so many of the items you finds are from private servers and in the search for twink items we usually find items that do not even exist in WOW official servers. WowHead ont he other hands uses the official wow database to create their own. thus they are 95% sure of the items you see.

of course, no websites is error-less there is always a chance to make an error in adding a gear.

thottbot also enable users like me to add stuff tot he database which leads to more error then allakhazam or wowhead

Thats funny how you say they want to ruin Twinks considering a little over 85% of the GM's and Blizzard / WoW employees only twink.

I have also done a few BG's with GM's they're just like normal twinks lol.

I get my statistics from friends who work for / through blizzard and every GM I have talked to twinks.

I do understand that wowhead is as incorrect/correct as thottbot & allakhazam. But thottbot is abit... I don't know how to put it.

I've played WoW since the beginning and I've used my fair share of Thottbot. But when wowhead came out.. the design and the search function. It's all much more clearer and provides the same information. It took me less than 2 minutes to adapt to the way of wowhead, after using thottbot for, god knows how long.

Everything is put out more simpler and laid out way easier for the eye.

And thottbot doesn't "fail" in the info they provide us with, they are just harder to adapt to I think.

And what do you mean with the moderaters give you more slack? Does that really provide anything good for the members? If something is useless I don't see why the mods shouldn't delete it.

But yes, Thottbot and Allakhazam are just as good sites as wowhead. But really, wowhead is much easier to adapt to.

Well, I think it does.

I have found other sites a bit too strict in terms or letting posters to have their say, even if it goes a little off on a tangent.

Others are far to quick to issue bans without even looking at the context or giving the poster a chance to explain him/herself.

So, I tend to give people more slack, yes.

That does not mean I don't pay careful attention to make sure the post does not stray into a flame fest, of course. I'd like to think this makes for a better forum. Everybody has an off-day and I don't issue bans unless in extreme cases (such as gold-selling ads) and always give a chance to the poster to redeem his/herself.

Having said all this, I do appreciate Wowhead is a better structured website, so I'm not surprised you like it best.

That's fine :)

Thottbot contains a lot more private server info than Wowhead. While playing I consistently found wrong information and now only use Wowhead

In case anyone hasn't seen this screenshot that was posted on thottbot, here it is: http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff14/Mirroku/GM2.jpg

It basically shows a GM saying that it DOES drop off any mob in the instance. I think the shadowfang drop rate myth has gotten out of control.

Thats a really solid... confirmation?

There's tons of incorrect screenshots from GMs. Logically, people really do clear sfk trash all the time (leveling groups) and I just kind of feel like after this many patches someone would get a ss of it dropping off of trash since there's a much higher probability you get it from trash than killing 3 bosses a few times an hour.

The GM says that "it is a possibility." Knowing Blizzard GMs, I would say that's a far cry from a solid confirmation that Shadowfang drops from any mob.
