EU+US Rushed into twinking ( Possible loss? )

So I recently came back to wow after taking a long break and seen multiple people offering a boost service to 110 with their twinks and I thought I'd give it a go myself to see if I could eventually boost people, I hit 101 about not so long ago and thought with the gear that I had acquired I would of at least been able to run dungeons solo without any issues but ofc run it slower than the avg booster due to gear limitations.

Do I really need to get most if not all items 835+ with leech on one or two pieces to ensure that the run will be smooth, I spent the little gold I had ( Roughly 300k ) on this and the outcome was different to what I expected to be fair, Will my twinking adventure have to be put on hold until I can obtain more/better items in order to boost fellow players in dungeons?

Sorry to say that but just buying 9 BoE doesnt make you a good Booster. Your ilvl is pretty low and you're missing Leech and Sockets for "max" performance. Also you're missing necklace, cloak, bracers, legendary gloves, 2 rings and Agility Trinket. + I guess you are missing some Traits for some Damage/Survivability. In total you've to improve your Gear and your Weapon. Sure not everyone has tons of gold but 300k is nothing for an 101 alt :)
 
Pretty much what Mczizegg / Nyanmell said I'm afraid. As a flipper on Outland I can tell you, you want atleast 700k to gear a hunter even with all plain 840 here. (Not including leech :( ) But this isn't to say you've had a "loss" Go farm some gold and finish your hunter and I gurantee you can make profit within a week of boosting . Also you have cloth gloves / str trinket they are not what you're looking for as MM, see my Hunter in my signature for some guidance (Replace dala ring with crit ring or Versa)
 
I would say for boosting pve if you keep going it will be a loss, Legion is coming to an end so boosts may or may not become irrelevant.
 
Pretty much as everyone said, as hunter you need full BOEs, at least ilvl 830-840+

In your opinion which would be better? Versa or crit ring
 
300k isn't much tbh. Seems a lot of flippers are keeping 840+ gear really high, especially if it has leech on it.
I am at over 1.5mil on my twink. Some of that is my server sucks and so I had to take the 840 stuff I could get to start. Then I see a 860 or a 845+ with a socket and I grab it too...then maybe later a better piece comes on the AH etc. So it goes like that.

I have skinning and herbing. I do about 1hr of herb a day and that gives me about 20k on the AH just from that, so I figure I'll be doing that a bit more to earn back some of what I invested in the twink.

I didn't twink for doing carries...I don't care about earning money as much as just the fun of finding the best pieces of gear, and farming AP and seeing how much stronger it makes my char...

I went BM hunter and there isn't much in Legion I can't kill regular mob wise....rares in BS and Argus I can't but on Argus it takes my BM main like 4 mins to solo those rares so...

Every class is a little different due to armor type and mechanics, but I would suggest aiming for at least a combined item level of 810 before you even think of boosting. Some classes can do fine at 800, others need closer to 820.
