Ruin 49s Throwback

Back when the queues were first split and we all had to go to the Ruin battlegroup to get games, a master artist completed perhaps the greatest painting in recorded history, which perfectly and accurately captured both the spirit and intensity of split-queue, XP-off PvP. It featured on the Battle.net 49s forum thread and was the source of much amusement and delight. I present to you, in its full and unadulterated glory, The Abstracted Pastiche:

Since most of the featured participants are lost to time, I give a shout-out to @Kirise alone. I hope you enjoy seeing this as much as I did.

I was just listening to the Vent recording of Rainbow Connection a couple of weeks ago, that pretty much sunk the game because nobody's fingers worked after that.

I was part of the Ruin 49s exp off games. I played a human fury warrior named desodeleter. I had grandfathered trasnmog mail glitched gear and liked the way my set looked a lot. I accidently leveled it to 50 so I later made it into a 69 twink (much later). I wasn't too sad about it though because by that point games had died off and there wasn't anything to do.

Oh and I remember how over powered thunderclap 50% slow and applying deepwounds back then was too. I could do such naughty naughty things to dungeons. That was how I accidently dinged. Got too lazer focused on massive chain pulls and didn't realize I left my exp on lol.

Sadly warrior dps was really trash in the meta but I had fun. Mostly you just got rooted and CCed so easily. Easy focus target and died fast. I think mages were really good and hunters were decent as well. There was almost no other warriors until prot got ridiculously buffed. About half way into the bracket split prot warrior became insanely good with shield slam so I had some fun with that. It was really dumb doing almost 50% of peoples health with shield slam.

The only other player I can remember off the top of my head is a hunter named Artemis that also accidently leveled to 50. After the more recent bracket split I participated in the 59 exp off wargames until those finally died off. Those were pretty fun too but it really really sucks not being able to queue whenever for games.

I remember you Deso. I'm gonna DM you my btag. Been thinking the 49 bracket on BFA by scaling down on my 120. Works well. Just as op as a twink with none of the work. It's Artemis by the way.
