Rogue - weapons?

Hi guys : )



I'm rolling a new rogue, equip and spec is clear, but I don't really know which weapons to choose, I can't get a shadowfang or Assassin's Blade, that's the only thing I'm sure about ; )

My thoughts:

2x Cruel Barb + Fiery for a pure burst/dmg set

--------------------------------------------

1x Cruel Barb + 15 Agi

1x Thiefs Blade + 15 Agi

Rogue vs Rogue, stats, dunno

--------------------------------------------

1x Warsong Dagger +5 Weapon Dmg

Ambush Equip



are CBs really the best option? Please answer asap : )

€: The rogue is horde, so I could also get the quest sword, would that be better for RvR?

access to boa?



if no boa/sf available, a OH cruel barb is a good choice.

a buthcers slicer has a 0.1 speed advantage compared to a CB in MH. CB is +8AP ~0,6dps.



that's ~1dps more than butchers. how much AP do you have in your gear?

rayekk got 227 with 2xbutchers - 15 for a fiery MH + 8 for CB OH = 220 = 15,7dps

with a butcher in MH he will gain 2,8x15,7 per hit = 44

with a CB MH he will gain 228/14 -> 2,7x16,3 = 43,97



so both weapons will hit almost the same. BUT the CB has a higher dps in MH and OH

-> dual CB will do more dmg than BS/CB.

dunno if this is outweighted by the higher procchance of fiery in MH.

CB -> 0,27

BS -> 0,28

imo CB wins.



as you can see, without access to SF/BOA barbx2 is good.

another good option is using the WSG dagger as OH and get 2stam4agi instead of 12AP.

to ambush you can use the tailspike ... it will hit harder than the wsg dagger.



edit:

as you are horde -> wingblade > wsg dagger.

Butcher's Slicer is a horrible choice for a 19 rogue.



Cruel Barb has the same damage range 30-57, But...



Cruel Barb is faster 2.8 as opposed to Butcher Slicers 2.9



because of the difference in speed Cruel Barb's dps is better

15.5 over Butcher Slicer's 15.0



As for the stats,

Butcher Slicer's 4 strength gets you 4 attack power.



Cruel Barb has 12 attack power.



The only time a rogue would want a Butcher Slicer is for a stamina set, and even then there are better choice's.



There are 2 choices for weapons if you cannot get a Shadowfang or Assassin's blade.



option 1....swords



Cruel Barb is your best sword option for main hand.

Thief's Blade is your best off hand because of the speed (1.7).

plus the 7 Agility is nice.



I wouldn't even use a Shadowfang in off hand because of the speed (2.8).



lol to the above statement because I actually do use dual Shadowfang's with fiery on my horde rogue, but before you crucify me for it. I am specced into dual wield specialization with him increasing the off hand weapon damage by 50%, and quite frankly I just use that toon to play around in wsg.



moral of the story is, if Shadowfang is bad for an off hand, Butcher Slicer is horrible.



option 2....dagger rogue



Scout's Blade in main hand. (PvP reward)

Thief's Blade in off hand.



If you go this route, spec. for it

2 points remorseless attacks

3 points puncturing wounds

2 points opportunity



3 points eviscerate or malice



keep an eye on your energy, and use backstab + ambush to your full advantage. When in wsg be sure to keep them sharpened with Heavy Sharpening Stone (+4 wep dmg)

dagger rogue is basically no option and SF/SF is the best weaponset you can get.



thiefsblade is NOT the best OH... and a fast OH is nothing to equip for. espacially without poisons.
 
edit...I'm not impressed with the BoA weapon choices for a rogue.

You really shouldn't give advice, because everything you have said is 100% wrong.

heartseeker is a very good OH until hitcap and the trashblade is the best OH if no second SF is available.



and you should proof me wrong!
 
no, as you are THE uberskill0r you will compensate my better gear with incredible moves and we will get wrong conclusions out of it.



if you can not do any math (or math + desriptions of playstyle that benefits) you better be careful with your statements.

It's fun, but I assure you. You do not want to be caught in a dark ally with that set up against a good rogue with Shadowfang + Thief's Blade with 15 agility.



I have every possible gear choice a 19 rogue could want. I can tell you from experience. 2 x Shadowfang with fiery is absolutely horrible rogue v rogue. That slow off hand feels like lag it's so slow.

as he is talking RvR only, what is your experience in this case?

what combo do you use in RvR duel?



besides this i never talked about RvR duels. for this duel the OP wanted to use CB/TB with dual 15agi. maybe you two want to give suggestions regarding to this.
 
It's very easy:

SF+TB +agi is the best combo for rvr, but terrible for everything else.

Dual SF+fiery is by far the best for WSG+Arena, and since 3.0 still decent enough for rvr.

So if you do only rvr, and play Arena+WSG on your other twinks, get agi on your SF.

If you actually do play wsg+arena, get fiery on your first 2 SFs.
 
As you are Horde without access to SF/BoA i would say, get CB/fiery and wingblade/agi and you are done.

It will be a good setup to fight everything. Tailspike for ambush.



If you want to, you can add more weapons at any time, cause the only one with XP needs is wingblade.
