I think the fact that his brother also committed suicide when Byron was young had a profound impact on his outlook on life.

I definitely agree.
That sort of thing has to stick with someone in the worst way, especially to a young developing mind. The sort of things we are exposed to at young ages can drastically alter us psychologically.

He should have stepped back as an internet persona a while ago. I'm not overly surprised, considering how open he was about his own mental health, and not really sugar coating anything. However, at the same time I didn't really want to believe that it come to this.
With his condition, putting himself in the constant crossfire of internet trolls and memers could not have been a healthy contribution whatsoever, and he should have sought out different aspects of life for the better of his health. He would still be able to enjoy games and whatnot. I just wish he had people that he could've discussed things with further, but then again, he could've just been that far out. Proposing on social media is definitely not a sign of a clear state of mind.

RIP to one of the realest streamers ever. The news hit me harder than it should have considering I never really watched his streams but I knew he was a good guy and deserved better.
Tbh, when both your children commit suicide we need to start looking at the parents. They're doing something wrong. Or his so-called "friends" who knew he was depressed for years and probably didn't provide enough support.

He was manic depressive though, which is a disorder. Also, depression in general is not a binary "oh I got support, so now everything is fine" kind of thing. Support helps, but the process is very long, and it can be incredibly tough for those providing it as well. It takes some INSANE amount of commitment and energy to help someone out of depression. I'd go as far to say it's near impossible to do on your own if the case is severe enough. Also, the person needs to be willing / want to accept help in the first place.
What I believe would've been best for Reckful, would be if he simply realized that his psyche did not support the lifestyle he had built for himself. He needed to step down as an internet persona and get out of the crossfire and surround himself with a more positive environment. Of course that's easier said than done.

I remember meeting him at blizzcon and playing against him in wotlk in very high rated arenas. I hope he's in a better place. Depression is terrible and we all deal with it in our own ways. See you in Valhalla, Brother.
