Ret Paladin 39

Hi Guys,
I am a returning WOW player coming back to classic in large part because I wanted to Twink again!
I had two level 19 thinks in vanilla and rolled them into BC and WOTLK.
In BC i made a hunter in the 39's and had the honor of getting pounded by a Twink Ret Paladin Blood Elf by the name of Ogrekill. So I'm going to roll Ret Pally.
I would appreciate a BIS gear guide for 39 Ret Pally online, but there really isn't much. I did find some warrior (39) builds. But paladin aren't following the same guidelines as them right.

Here are the items i have acquired:

Expert Goldminer's Helmet (+5 agile, +6 stam, Increased Axes +7)
Skelatal Shoulder (+6 str, +15 stam)
Scarlet Chestpiece (+8 str, +19 stam)
Ogron's Sash (+8 str, +8 stam, +8 agile)
Crushridge Bindings ( +5 str, +11 stam)
Black Ogre Kickers (+6 str, +13 stam)
Scorpashi Cape (+2 str, +5 agile, 7 stam)
Gloves of Holy Might (Crit 1%, +20 AP, +30 AP v undead)
Gazlowes Charm (+4 str, +11 stam, +3 spir)
Blush Ember Ring (+4 str, +5 stam, +8 spir)

Weapon
Pendulum of Doom (+crusader)

Please let me know what else I should get or swap out, I want BIS.

yea The helm is BIS for this bracket, especially a paladin auto attacking, every swing counts!

Anyone with any knowledge on 39 paladins please help! Need help specc’ing and and any other gear I need

I think you want to skip those gloves, they itemize very poorly. Otherwise looks pretty good, I don't remember all the stats form 39 gear but maybe look at Herrod's Shoulder or even Flint Rock Shoulders.

Ironheel boots are a good alternative to the ogre kickers.
Gauntlets of Divinity from SM over HM especially vs physical damage
I'd also pick up an assault band

Also the amount of people that continuously say axe skill is good in pvp on this forum is astounding. wep skill is equalized in battlegrounds and it literally gives zero advantage. Outside of BGs the 7 wep skill equals around .28 hit.

Now lets look at raging berseker helm?? HELLLOOOO 13 str and 8 stam +1% crit

no brainer to me.

Saving the itemization debate for later I want to point out exactly what +skill should be doing IN BG.

Everyone gets their weapon skills maxed. They may also be normalized so that level difference is negated. Then any skill bonuses are applied, such as orc axe or human sword racial. These will lower your base miss rate which sits at 5% as well as lowering enemy dodge, block and parry rate.

If your .28% hit rate bonus is correct for +7 skill, then your miss rate would go down to 4.72% and enemy dodge, block, and parry would also be reduced by .28%.

This would translate to a minimum of .54% more attacks landing and up to 1.08% more full hits against targets that block and parry.

Pretty minor stuff but there's a lot of confusion on the topic.

Edit: forgot to include that it will give you an additional .28% crit as well.

Are we 100% certain it applies to BGs though? Every source I've seen has said otherwise. That's why I'm asking.

+7 skill to axes will only increase the crit% against mobs and pets, so .2% crit against and higher chance to not miss on mobs/pets/totems.
Weapon skill gets scaled up in PvP, true. But if you don't max it you will end up missing attacks against pets/totems.
People are mixing up Vanilla and TBC. That helm was BigBiS (giving +17 Expertise) in BC cause it gave you a huge advantage against dodge/parrys.

The crit% you see it give when equiping it with an Axe also equiped is from the +5agility (0.25%cit).

you'll find this more rewarding

So everything I have above is good huh? Just need to get:
Iron heel boots
gauntlets of divinity
Raging berserker helm

Couple Questions:
Why aren’t the gloves BIS, technically when fighting undead, I’ll do +50 bonus ap correct? And then +20 to everyone else... just need some clarity thanks

Everyone is absolutely certain the gloves and helmet are not BIS. And that I should get raging berserker helm and divinity gauntlets?

I played 19 in vanilla and 39 in BC. In BC 39 everyone wanted Holy Might gloves and Gold Mimers helmet. Should I stash em or trash em?
