Resurrecting decade old twinks

Hi

I've logged on my twink account a few times over the last decade, but haven't played with them in a BG since around 2009. I'm wondering how much work it would take to gear up these to current specs?

[29 Warlock] https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/character/hakkar/Slimceps
[29 Rogue] https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/character/hakkar/Noceps

Also have a 29 paladin but there's no armory page.

[39 Priest] https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/character/hakkar/Fatceps

I've inspected some 29/39 twink guilds on the armory and it seems like very few heirlooms are used. I remember them pretty much killing twinking years ago, what's changed?

Sorry mods for posting links without 2 posts or more.

a lot of the pieces you can get now with certain items being gfed and new items scaling to your level just do better stat wise than looms.

In certain situations and / or specs you'll still need to use some looms here and there

it isn't anything crazy hard, you can get yourself a nice set going and ready for BGs in a day if you have the gold and luck. Hardest part of gearing new twinks is the rng from bg crates.

here is one of the best geared 29 rogues on NA to my knowledge - https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/character/bleeding-hollow/paigexd

and by the looks of it all the pieces are currently obtainable so you're in luck

warlocks are a lot less popular in this bracket than rogues so it can be hard to find some information on them.

here's a somewhat active warlock you can use for reference - https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/character/kelthuzad/Hulkswife

remember to get level 300 alchemy for the https://www.wowhead.com/item=75525/alchemists-flask its a free infinite flask

The tl;dr is that the combination of level scaling changes in 7.3.5 and an item level squish in 8.0 ended up putting unscaled BoEs at a slightly higher item level than heirlooms and dungeon drops. Stats and suffixes on most gear was modernized, so pretty much everything has a combination of main stat/stam/2 secondaries.

The higher ilevel greens (like your Vital Handwraps, Elder's Pants, Pathfinder Hat, etc) can give a couple extra stat points over gear scaled to your level. Crafted gear benefited a lot from the changes too.

Heirloom legs/shoulders are still used pretty often for enchants. The necks and some trinkets are good too. Outside of that, dungeon gear, BG gear (you get a piece of gear for random BG wins) and BoEs either give you more stats, or the same amount with more customization.

Gearing up decently is pretty easy. Can just check the AH and run a few dungeons to fill in gaps. There are a ton of options with dungeons scaling to your level, and random dungeon satchels can drop gear in a bunch of slots. Everyone can get engineering up to 300 now, you can pick up green lens/higher level goggles on 29s.

Best in slot will depend on your server and gold. Unscaled greens can be hard to come by on lower pop servers, and prices have definitely gone up over the course of the expansion. The gap between decent and great gear is pretty small though, it doesn't hurt too much to be patient with those.

As far as your rogue is concerned, the cloak and gloves are no longer obtainable and are better than anything available imo. if your helm ends up with vers or crit it may be worth using as well. I prefer AB boots/gloves over quickblade greens although I've seen a few use those too.

The rest is kind of up to you to play around with depending on what kind of build you like. I would recommend using quickblade items from bg win crates to replace chest/wrist/ring then using boe quickblade infiltrator/cutthroat shoulders and dusky leggings with +17agi. There are also quickblade boe legs thatprovide more stam and vers.

I also like the vers ring from gnomer but satchel rings are good too.

That NA rogue is indeed sick even tho.. i don't agree with that Vibroblade everyone is so hyped around here. Why? In a 1vs1/vs2 situation, the dmg is so absurd that you actually could benefit more from some stats instead of that PROC.

Just my 2 cents.
