Gy farming is for the purpose of prolonging games. Containment is a valid strategy to to allow your fc to cap without being attacked. This strategy is unpopular for some people I admit but the source of the ''drop off point'' which I'm thinking you're referring to MoP after Summer, was mostly due to people being put off about the idea of chants ruining the bracket.

19 activity was rather diminished before patch 5.3, and after that patch rolled people said because of the new content, timeless isle, etc., when that patch 5.4 rolled the bracket suffered because alot of players had twinks on servers with no main. once some time went on and BOAs became mailable, 19's attendance boosted, but GY camping resumed, it is not containment when it ls done for near whole game.

When MoP came out 19s were ignored as they always are when a new expansion launches. After a few months activity picked up which was far better than cata. 5.3 was a huge peak for 19 activity as well, having the most premades at any point.

By the way who's your 19? Everything you've just said has absolutely no relevance except the BoA mailing, which really didn't make much of a difference.
