Resto druid viable?

Hello, i'm new on TI but i've played in the 70 bracket for 8 months or so and i'm starting to get tired of my plate classes (warr and pala) and want to try something new.

I'm wondering if Resto Druids are viable in pvp, can they stand up to a mage burst etc. An chardev of a resto druid pvp and some tips would be awesome, and as said if it's even viable. (cuz i can't see any of 'em in BGs).

Resto druids are somewhat viable, other healers are just so much better. That's why you don't see them often. Druid's healing style also doesn't favor bursty lvl 70 bracket, when your swiftmend is on CD and your teammate is taking heavy damage there's not much you can do without blowing either NS or Tree of Life. Nourish is not worth casting, ever, so you have to try to top targets with regrowth. But there is chance to get school-locked and also Regrowth is quite expensive. But still, they're viable to a certain extend, if you pair yourself with ret or some other class that has strong off healing capabilities you should be fine. Rdruids might not be #1 material but they're definitely viable and fun to play.

They're great for PvE though, and BG healing is also really fun. I'm always topping the healing charts on my rdruid.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the lack of Cyclone puts them behind other healers. You could try to lvl up to 74, but I'd not recommend that.

The lack of Cyclone does not make them a viable option for arena from my point of view, you have no cc at all if not a bear stun, which does not pay off the lack of cyclone.

Every other healer, has more cc than you.

And with Tree of Life on cooldown and your team mate taking heavy damage, you have to spawn regrowth, let's say you fake the first silence, but you cant fake them all.

Trust me, make a team, go 74. Stack resi. Ull lose like 10% mitigation and some crit but nobody cares, ull get like 15% more healing from le scaling plus ull have cyclone which people dont know what to do against cuz they bads

They are definately a viable option for BG's. They are mobile, faerie fire for stealthers, nice set of healing tools, barkskin, 2 dots, "godmode" tree form, great aoe healing, ...

Once you get bored of resto, you can always swap to moonkin/feral.

Resto's don't have cc, but they have an interupt!
<

They have a 1 minute CD on there interupt, shitty compared to shamans, paladins and we need rage for it. ( The Enrage ability to gain instant rage is mostly used for bash, so interupting is pretty fucked)

U dont need rage if u bind it on kitty, still its bad tho ^^

you'll still need to wait untill you've got enough energy to use it

both bear and cat are crap

boiiii better put some points in master shapeshifter

Aight' sorry for going off-topic a bit. But I think that I'm going to lvl up my druid to 74 after reading few replies. Anyway, if I make teams whem I'm 70 and then lvl to 74, is it still possible to add people in those teams? Or how does it actually work?

You have to add people/be on a team before you start leveling past 70. Also, if you want to be a really good healer, you should stay @ 70 and stack as much haste as you can. Ignore spirit and spell pen, focus on going with haste. The more haste you have, the faster your hots tick, and at a certain point you can completely over power the damage people can do with hot ticks alone. Go Troll and pick up herbalism for even faster ticks under pressure.

It's win, trust me. Cyclone is great and all, but having a lot of haste is soo much better.

lolol

Ignore this man.

I lvled my druid to 74. Gotz me sum Synapse springs and its a blast. Still not quite as good as my other 3 healers (have one of each class) but I think it more fun than any but Shaman. There is nothing holy about the lvl 70 and cyclone really is a hug deal so just do what you please.

Being 74 and playing against 70's can not be considered fair.

In any way, yes the section ( 70's ) is unbalanced and everything, but that's not a reason to find tricks going 74.

Plus, you will regret going 74 at some point, if your a true twink lover.

Just like most people do when they level up a twinked toon.

The bracket is designed to have 74's. Really this 70 elitism is mind bogglingly silly. Going 74 isn't a "trick".....its the way the game is designed.

70 vs 74 is COMPLETELY fair since 70's CHOOSE to remain 70. Same way that its fair for geared 70's to beat on ungeared 70's since they choose not to gear up.

I can understand some complains about 70's going 74 after joining an arena team. Thats not a big deal for me though since I only casually participate in arena and I wouldn't be upset if they made arena 70 only or allowed you to join teams at 74. I just wish there was some consistency..

Reminds me of the 60's elitism that killed the bracket. All those hypocrites at 60 who raged at anyone with gems or BC gear while they themselves were decked out in wrath chants. Though the venom in that bracket was far, far worse than anything at 70.

As i said, if the game is brocken, it does not mean that it's fair.

Yes you should have cyclone at level 70, yes there should be wings, warriors should have more mobility and warlocks some more self defensive ability, but going 74, for me, my small personal oppinion is wrong.

This said, feel free to do whatever gives you more pleasure, i wont retain anyone from enjoying the game in the way he feels right.
