quick question about veteran

Is there any set method or legend on how or why members are veterans? I have not found a link explaining. There doesn't seem to be any pattern that I can see. Some veterans have low amount of thread posts and others have a lot. Seems like its a random rank unlike the other ranks that are self evident like donator, guide author etc etc.

Where does the blue MVP rank come from?

MVP rank is granted when a user gets 2 or 3 nominations and the staff approves of the user getting the rank.
