Questions regarding this community and 'Casual' Play

Hi. First off, sorry if this is the wrong section, I'm new to these forums.

Right! First off, hi, I'm BloodyFenrir. I used to play WoW P2P, but quit after deciding I wasn't getting enough enjoyment out of the money I was paying.

I recently got the urge to try out WoW F2P, in anticipation of GW2, and whilst looking into the limitations of F2P accounts and such, I stumbled across this forum. I got reading, and I'd really like to get involved in this community.

The only problem is, I plan to play on a very much 'Casual' timetable. Between friends, schoolwork, and other interests, I really don't have the time to be on WoW all night every night, nor do I really want to. This means that I'll most likely be playing varying amounts each night, from one to several ours, between 6pm and 11pm GMT (I'm English). Which is around 1pm-6pm EST, the time zone I'm gonna guess you work on, though of course it could be any of the American time zones (I'm assuming you guys work on an American time zone since a US server is the main hub!)

So here are my questions;

Are there any requirements for times when you must play in this community, similar to raid times, that I may have trouble meeting (being a 'casual')?

Secondly, what times do people usually play? Or in other words: Do people play at the times mentioned above, or would it be pointless to join you guys since I'd never find a game with you?

And finally; Are there any requirements for 'activity'? I will likely be relatively mute (though this may change depending my mood), both ingame and on these forums. Would that affect anything?

What I'm basically asking is would a relatively quiet British schoolkid (Soon turning 16) be able to play wth you guys?

The main reason I probably seem nervous and am asking all these questons is that whilst your community seems genuinely friendly, I have seen communities before advertised as such, but are actually quite the opposite. I just want to avoid jumping in, then making people angry.

Answers are much appreciated, and thanks in advance!

Everyone is nice, speaking from AP horde. The nice thing about f2p is there is no time you have to play, everyone is doing something all the time, whenever you play it doesn't really matter. There are always people on the channel. There are no requirements for activity, plenty of people never post or even look at TI at all, no issues there. Jump right in!

You'll probably find a lot of people in this community that are a lot like you in regaurds to how they want to play and why they don't have a paid account. I decided that PvP wasn't supported enough for me to justify paying for it and stopped, and decided to make a f2p twink to get my battleground fix while I wait for GW2 to come out

I'm really glad I tried it, this bracket can be a lot of fun and whether you play on the AP community or solo on another server you meet a lot of great teammates in your games that are fun to play with. The nice thing about this bracket is you can be as casual as you want; gearing your toon takes almost no time in comparison to endgame or some other twink brackets, once your toon is geared it's done and you don't have to work on it anymore (or log in every week) so you can play it as little or often as you want, bgs pop 24/7 so you can log in to play at any time, you can be solo or social, and best of all it's free

I think this is the best bracket for people who have other time commitments.

Okay, I think I'll have to try it then! Thanks guys

Keep any eye out for a new Tauren Prot Paladin on AP US! Once my old client's downloaded the recent patches... d'oh.

Go for it! It's takes a relatively short amount of time to gear up in 'endgame' level gear, there are always games going on, and the people are relatively nice. I'd for one definitely say play on the Aerie Peak server, and I'd secondly suggest going horde simply because queue times are shorter and you won't have to sit around for 10 minutes before you get a game. As a somewhat casual gamer, it's nice to devote a week to gearing a character appropriately and then being able to jump on for 30 minutes for a game.

EDIT: You just posted directly above me, but sweet! feel free to /wave at Salfir

First off let me just say that welcome to the community.

First off let me start by saying that there are no requirements whatsoever to join the community your 'free to play' how when and why you want too.

Everyone in the community is very nice and there are usually people on at all times of the day for you to group with or do whatever with

As long as you don't run amuck you'll be welcomed with open arms you don't even need to talk much

Get ur toon to 20 and hit me up when ur ready to do some bgs.

Thanks a lot everyone (and sorry justasmurff)! This has cleared up my concerns. I'm no foreigner to making commitments I can't keep, and I didn't want this to turn into one of those situations.

I could, but i wont do it in this thread.

I deleted any other posts because in times past discussions like this have never turned out well

Again welcome to the community I hope you have fun on whatever character you decide to make!

I've encountered a problem. It seems my internet simly isn't good enough to play US side, sadly. The world freezes periodically for long periods, far too long for dungeoneering or PvP to be practical. Ah well, hopefully I'll be able to find some friends EU side!

Aw, that's a pity. Playing with lowest graphics setting on US helps me when I want to use wireless and my connection gets into trouble, have you tried that? You could install both clients, play EU for the graphics and come join US occasionally.

Good luck either way!
