Since I haven't read anything relating to my problem, I'll share what happened to me last night. I turned on my xp, my sub ran out, I got kicked from WOW, I logged in again and then q'd for a random dungeon. After the last boss I dinged 21, with no active sub and my xp turned on. After a couple tickets, Blizz says no dice, they're not gonna delevel my toon.

PSA: watch your xp bar after your sub ends to make sure you're not gaining xp!

I'm not sure if this is a timing issue (like WOW didn't have time to recognize my sub had ended) but nevertheless PAY ATTENTION.

PS: can someone direct me to the level 21 armory?

i gotten my toon deleveled 8 times.
I had so many GMs tell me no.
Its just a matter of trying. I think I wrote a mini guide on how to get deleveled. I'll go search for it.

With no offense intended. You dont got much to be upset about.
You could easily reroll again. If I were to make a clothie I'd shoot for epics on slots that aren't easily replaced with a BiS farm-able epic. (silvermoon robes. foamspittle staff)

Yeah, I'm not super upset about it. I just don't have the free time or patience to farm. I just wanted a playable Mage to rock until classic launches. Guess I'm stuck playing Shaman til then.

I'll probably still try another GM or three.

I've had this happen to me and I've heard it happen to many others

It's a bug that happens when you dont give the API enough time to refresh or whatever, normally a GM realizes that it was a bug and will fix it (delevel)

Generally you should wait around an extra hour after your sub runs so the system can refresh character / account info or something like that idk exactly how it works
 
Every time I've gotten my time switched to another account, I've logged completely out of bnet before playing again. Never seem to have any problem.

But yes, it's a bug and a GM should recognize that pretty quickly
 
This "specialist" GM specifically stated it's not a bug, lol (the second one).

Me: I have a problem with one of my toons on KT (Sabonutmeg). I turned my xp on and then my subscription ran out. I thought you couldn't earn xp with an expired sub. After I ran one dungeon my character leveled to 21. I really need to de-level my character so I can BG with him. Is there any way you can help? I don't think it's fair that this happened and I don't think it was my fault. PLEASE!

I'm Gamemaster Eldisana and would like to thank you for contacting us. I just checked your issue thoroughly and am sorry to hear, that you accidently leveled a character while doing a dungeon. Unfortunately we can only help with such problems, if they were caused by a bug in the game. In this case you turned on the XP yourself (as you state in your ticket) and due to that got experience which made you level up. Without gametime you still can level up above level 20 until you restart the game, as the game only checks during logging in if you have gametime or not (and applies restrictions if needed). I'm sorry to not have a more positive response here, but you turned on your XP willingly yourself.

Me: I feel like this is a bug. I should not have gotten xp if my sub was expired. Is that not how the game is intended to work?

Me: I did have to restart them game. It kicked me off as soon as my sub expired.

There are not any confirmed bugs with what you experienced and as such, we are unable to assist in this situation. While this is very unfortunate to have happened, this situation has been confirmed to be working correctly and we will not delevel your character. I am pretty sure I literally have a screenshot on my PC of another GM saying it's a bug that commonly gets reports lmao

Game Master Lirtassaya here. Thank you for taking the time to petition in. I understand you're wanting to delevel a character. In taking a look, it looks like this character reached level 29 some time ago, when you did still have game time, for an explanation as to why they are that level. I'm afraid that we're unable to delevel them for you - you would need to pay for a month of game time to access that character. I hope this answered all your questions! My name is Game Master Tarethla! I got your issue here about having leveled to 21. I've taken another look into this for you, far as I can tell what had happened you were playing when your gametime ran out, however it hadn't yet refreshed. That said I was able to verify that you did not have gametime on your account when you leveled so it should not have given you that exp and set you back to 20. That said, this is a huge exception and not something we can often do. So while I was able to help you out here it's extremely unlikely we'd be able to do so again, as characters aren't designed normally to go back in levels. If you have any other questions or concerns, please do let us know! Thank you for taking the time to read my response, and again, thank you for your patience with the wait tonight. Leveling to 21 without game time is a bug.

Leveling to 20 is not. That said, I know of people who have done similar things and succeeded.
 
yeah I am aware, just fun to try think of ways to replicate it, ways to make it seem like a bug

I know some "accidentally" got lvled when a GM took control of their character at 99,9%xp bar to fix/check some made up ticket and got deleveled that way, ofc after doing some unnoticeable lvl 20 stuff

Doesn’t have the time or patience to farm but is going to play classic xDDD
