I'm sure this is widely known, but from my inexperience, I was hoping for the best. I knew I wouldn't be able to fly, but I was hoping I could use it as a ground mount.

an easy way to check it is going to the mount's spell page (not the item page) on wowhead, and looking under "Taught By" section to see req minimum (aka learn) level.

True that, but you can never say for sure. Like zhevra from tp had red tooltip with some lvl required - but went into collection nps.

That's cuz trading post items are auto learned

Thanks for this tip! I was definitely mislead by the item's "1 to 70" claim.

One thing that seems to have been changed in one of the previous patches was the grey/white cosmetic items that drop but require a higher level to "wear" so were previous not usable under level 20 that selling these to a vendor unlocked the transmorg if your class could normally use that item -- without equipping. This hasn't been applied to many quest items yet.

It seems unfortunately these quest mounts got left behind (or caught with) the changes with level 30 to learn to fly because previously via the quest it was useable at level 20 as a ground mount.
