Proffession question.

I know engineering is like the go to proffession for 70 twinks, but what about pairing with inscription? It's great shoulder enchants. If you wanted to go a saving budget route, you could pair with herbalism since the haste increase. Any thoughts on this?

Depends. For Healers JC/BS are the best professions.

What class/spec/role are you?

Why do you think JC/BS are the best professions for healers? If anything I think it's between JC/Mining to go along with Engineering.

I am an unholy DK atm. I am just trying to decide my profs.

I would think engineering for spinal healing injector would be better. Toss in the gun, seems like a good deal. I suppose because they offer the best stat customization they are better for arena. A free lay on hands seems really good if your just pugging though. Plus boots to run away, yeah engi is good in pugs.

back to the topic at hand. What are the profs of choice for a Deathknight, or plate wearer?

Inscription: Very good shoulder enchantments but the +30 Stam +15 Resilience is pretty dang good if you choose not to get it.

Engineering: Always a good choice, plenty of toys that make you strong. However some of these abilities aren't usable in arena. For some of us, that's a HUGE thing. Engineering is always viable for BGs but if your a hardcore arena-player at 70, use a different profession than engineering.

Leatherworking: Great Enchantments for legs/bracers, however if you choose not to get them, the WotLK enchantments still are good.

Alchemy: The Potion buff from the trinkets are good but IMO the BC trinkets from raid instances/pvp-venders are better.

Other Gathering Professions: Still good and viable.

I probably shouldn't say that BS/JC are the BEST for healers at 70, however they are definitely viable. BS opens up 2 additional gem slots and JC gives you 3 unique gems that are potentially 60% better than normal gems. Now personally, I don't feel the NEED for engineering, the toys are fun no doupt and even give you an upper hand against other classes in certain situations. But Engineering more or less is a BG profession at 70, it's less viable in arena. And even if you don't get engineering(for the enchantments/item slots) the BC(items) and WotLK(enchantments) are still pretty decent. I was considering getting Inscription even however, It did not work well with my character planar.

chardev 8 - Cataclysm Beta

I take it back. BS/JC are not THE BEST for healers, however it made my character planar seem BiS for arena(which was my goal). Sorry for the miss communication

I want to bg on this guy mainly, but if I deem eng unnecessary then what should I get. I'll have 30k gold for this guy but no on server main support

Engineering & Inscription are BiS.

End of story.

If I get a bad tinker, can I get a GM to exchange it for one that works?

pretty sure you have to relevel it. but i suppose sending a ticket in and seeing if they would couldnt hurt, might save some gold.

oh and to clarify: LW dont get special leg enchants, they make the same ones using less mats. just get nice bracer enchants.

& inscription bis? are they rly better than glad shoulder enchant

Maybe, he didn't give any reason why.

I'm also trying to choose professions for a 70 xp off BG hero, specifically a disc priest. I think the engineering bolt gun would be fun but I'm scared of getting a bad tinker and feeling the need to relevel engineering (because that is not fun). So I'd like to see what other professions can do stat-wise and I see what the bonuses each profession grants at 85 all over the place but is there a list of the stat bonuses at 70?

Non leatherworkers can now get 75 ap 22 crit % 55 stam 22 agi leg enchants??

Nah..?

Nobody seems to have mentioned Enchanting? is 60 stam or 46 spell power really that bad for us? (I'm a disc priest)

The way I see it is:

JC gives 42 res/agi/int/str/stam (14 extra stats x 3 = 42)

BS gives 2 extra sockets so thats 40 stats.

Alch gives 40 int

tailoring gives free leg enchant (same as everyone else can get) and cloak enchant for increase speed proc

Enchanting is 60 stam or 46 spell power

Enginneering im still confused about exactly what I can get for arena, the tinker seems to be a problem for most people and most trinkets arent great

Mining and Herb are lol dont even bother imo.

Leatherworking gives a nice 120 stam on bracers but then you loose your enchant like 30 spell power.

So what are you're thoughts on enchanting for disc priest? and for my second proff?

BS & JC are the most flexible, and certainly the best for hybrid classes. Engineering is overrated, I guess u'll hear when the majority of noobs does. Pyro doesn't break vannishes anymore so it's a lot less usefull. U can always be a noob and go for tazzik shocker though, then u don't even have to farm gear :D
