Priest talent discussion: Psy fiend or Dominate Mind.

Psyfiend, because you cant do anything else if you are dominating mind a target. It has its uses, but, I just dont see it being better than Psyfiend for general use. Roots are also pretty good, but with the amount of druids in the bracket atm, it is kind of bleh (IF they realize they can shift out of it)

To get another 1k health out of your fiend, you can make a macro to bubble your psyfiend. I find that really useful for the rare occurrences that someone actually decides to attack it or so AOE damage spells dont kill it.

People accidentally attack your psyfiend too instead of you sometimes, since there are more targets. I have poison extraction totem macrod to bubble and with psyfiend, there are 3 targets from me on the ground. It can save you.

I like tendrils the best.

Tendrils for D, Psyfiend for O imo

Then for arenas it depends on playstyle

edit: dominate mind if you want to mess around and mc people off cliffs

Psyfiend would be good if it were reliable. But with the rising numbers of melee dps, id take void tendrels. Melees have to sit it or spend resources to get out of it. This can be game breaking because most warriors are going to shield slam it, putting it on CD. Prot pals will have to use most likely judge and holy wrath or whatever its called to get out

Though it is very fun Mind Controling alliance off that ledge they think they are so safe on

when it comes to pugging...

Disc + Void TendriIs if you want to heaI big 10v10s at Farm whiIe you Iose the other 4 bases or in mid-fieId wsg whiIe FC's run past you

HoIy + Dominate Mind if you want to cap bases, return or defend fIags or just get stuff done in generaI

When 2 rogues jump on me and trinket my fear,i miss void tendrils. When i am fcing and hiding on the tunnel roof i miss dominate mind.I want both of the talents at the same time!!!

Dominate mind or tendrils. Not that I play priest that often, but dominate mind sees more use from me.

This. Tendrils set up excellent peels for yourself and your teammates, highly defensive. Psyfiend creates opportunities and opens up weaknesses to get a kill, highly offensive. Of course, their roles can be reversed... such as rooting healers to not let them keep up with a druid efc turning a corner, or placing a defensive bubbled psyfiend where it'll fear enemies off you and your teammates.

Dominate Mind is a great tactical ability for battlegrounds that can make very strong plays, but the cost of losing control of your character is heavy and makes it a bit situational. However, with a cooperative premade, it can be an incredibly deadly and fun ability.

Personally, I run psyfiend. I like making openings (so no to tendrils) and the ability to keep multitasking at all times is very important to me and imo a major strength of disc spec priests that should not be sacrificed (so no to dom mind).

All three are amazing talents. Feels like for once there's a real choice to be made and it's fun to often switch. :)

Disregarding useful applications of all three talents I personally find the most enjoyment (read mad cackling glee) in successful DMs.

I disagree with the Tendrils vs. Psyfiend arguement because, even though you have melee rooted with Tendrils, they can still throw Avenger's Shield or start autocasting Throw and, they may waste a Shield Slam or Avenger's Shield Cooldown on Tendrils, but they could do the same trying to kill Psyfiend and end up getting feared too. Also, when you are feared you have no control over your character, unlike when you are rooted.

I think Psyfiend fails a lot compared to Tendrils. Not as reliable, and I like to be confident that the spell will work.

It usually works if you position it right, even if the enemy players are smart they will keep a 10 yard distance on you and the Psyfiend. Leaving you time to heal or Dps, etc.

I totally see the logic in why Psyfiend is possibly better. I may just be bad with one of those.
