Premades...What need

When people have mounts and hunters can nuke you from halfway across the map, it's more about survivability in this bracket.

This 3x. I can think of several people who are good FCers, both myself and Earl included. Knowing how to survive through an assault and protect your escort as they protect you, are the keys to being a good FC in our bracket. Situational awareness and communication are more important than knowing all the jumps. In 19s, that will get you clear of enemies. Here, it only confuses a few of them for a short time.

Coming from 19s I see this bracket lacks dedicated FCs in comparison and those that do FC are by chance rather than character design.

Read: I'm not saying everyone sucks at FCing in this bracket - I'm saying I have not seen ONE person that has created a 20 just to FC and has the gear/skill to do it well.

I have a specific FCing gear set that puts me at 1.9k hp over 1.4k mana unbuffed. I decided to stack my buffs and broke 3.1k the other day. I would definitely volunteer to FC in a premade, but in pugs, a random kid with 1k hp grabs it before I can at least half the time. Up until about a month ago, I was pretty exclusively an FC but I got a little fed up with sitting in our base for 10 minutes while the clueless puggers on my team picked their noses in mid. Now when I'm in a group of 5 I'll spec between holy and ret depending on our comp. I don't think this bracket has the intuition to understand a real FC. There are too many randoms and bads to rely on getting the flag in the hands of the FC every time.

My solution to that problem, when I'm FC'ing, is to be very vocal. I watch the map and I'll call people out by name if I have to. I think that somehow I get away with being more vocal than most people, or maybe it's just in my nature. Still, letting them know "hey if you don't get the flag back in X time, I won't survive a concentrated assault" will often motivate people to get their act together.

I will also, depending on my protection team, ask them to stay very mobile with me, watching incoming nameplates and just rapidly moving between floors and LOSing everyone.

I agree to an extent that we lack dedicated FC's. I'm not saying there are none, because there are. Generally I'll grab the flag when I can, keep in mind I don't have a dedicated gear set. A PuG will lack organization but that can be worked around. I suggest rolling a FC only if you like to do that, otherwise choose your favorite class!

Just rolled AB 5 times in a row 5 caps. Communication & Skill is more important than class. I hope everyone knows that by now.

I agree! I know I've said this before, but I especially hate how FC'ing for randoms is not only more boring (when your O is completely clueless), but it also yields less honor than the mid field idiots who have no intention of going after the EFC.
<

I just wish FC's got more honor somehow, cuz their efforts are FTW; but more often than not, they end up earning less honor for the match than others. At least thats how it felt from my experiences FC'ing.

agreed 100%. the main reason why i end up "GY camping" so much in WSGs is because there is literally no motivation to attempt to capture the flag. i'll get more honor and have more fun by just hanging out in the middle of the field fighting people. carrying the flag in pubs is ridiculously boring and you don't even get any honor.

they added bonus honor for defending flags in AB. it's time they did the same thing for capping flags in WSG - my suggestion would be that all players within a certain AOE arc of the flag cap area receive bonus honor when a flag is capped - this way the people who escort the flag carrier are also rewarded.

I hope that wouldn't lead to both sides turtling, lol.

How about this:

If you are holding the flag, and someone on the other team is holding the flag, then you get proximity honor both at your own location and at the location of the other flag carrier.

Offer honor for flag returns as well? That way you have legit incentive to get it back....

Kind of surprised that they don't do this already, actually. Never really thought about it, though.

Not very fair due to latency differences which directly impact ones ability to return the flag.

Upgrade that Commodore and you will be golden =) . Baby jesus will smile if any of the devs give 1 rats butt about this bracket. The talk about them squelching out locked 24s from this bracket is just not gonna happen. Along with this fantasy idea of having special honor added cause you helped with the flag. Its just not their thing. Ya know?

Well, that certainly isn't something specific to this bracket...

Amen brudda. I hate being on defense but I find myself doing it because most people would rather fight in mid and ignore the FC as they run by getting chased by half the horde team

(yes I'm mad)

Quote from one game
