I hated shamans, until the first time I stepped onto a battlefield with one. That was three years ago.
Utility, versatility, mobility. So many tools, so many ways, so many applications.
Playing a shammy is about breadth, not depth. Let others find 10 ways to kill an opponent. Give me a shammy who knows when to slow the field, when to pressure healers, when to delay a caster a couple of seconds at just the right time, when to nullify an incoming spell, when to suddenly make an opponent softer and a teammate hit harder and faster. Give me a shammy who can tease damage away from an attacker, who can kite an enemy squad for the few seconds it takes for the flag carrier to escape to safety, who can give an edge, take a beating, and leave an impression that a walk in the park just turned into a trudge through the mud, and then somehow it's over.
Other classes set you up for their signature moves. Shamans set you up for circumstances, continually adjusting to what happens around them until they finally lead you to your end. Maybe they hit you, maybe their teammate finishes you off, maybe you find yourself abandoned, shambling to catch up to the receding fray. When things start to feel easier or harder in the middle of battle, look nearby for a shaman.
