Doctors without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières is one of the humanitarian organisations I admire most. They received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999. Short intro:

"Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare. MSF offers assistance to people based on need, irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation."

There are current actions against the Novartis lawsuit mongering and the European Commission legislation plans targeted against the availability of generic medicines. 80% of medicines supplied by MSF are endangered by these two issues. If they pass, it will most certainly mean that millions of people will die who could survive with treatment. I mean those numbers escape the power of my imagination

Great humanitarian organization. Had to write a paper about them in my French class some time ago.
 
Very sad to see this type of adversity going on, i sent an email and even though it isn't much, i sincerely hope the combined efforts of myself and thousands(possibly millions) of others are able to stop these greedy companies from doing this to the developing world.

yea it wont, theyll still always be greedy and screw over the 3rd world. like them bringing litigation when poor countries try to use parallel imports and such to get aid. but when the US does things like this (ex. for anthrax scare back in 00s) everything is coo

Yeah, I'm not even convinced that a public awareness will be a swaying factor in this case. I give money to MSF, but I'm not going to go around advertising for donations here. ^^

I do think that now that some MSF funds have gone into the awareness campaign, the least we can do is participate. And MSF is in so far awesome as they are very transparent about where their money goes to. And while they of course do publicity work, unlike some other organisations it's not an indecent amount of useless image campaigns. As I said, pretty much the humanitarian organisation I admire most.

Bypassing import regulations, copyright laws and international agreements in a state of emergency or potential danger is apparently a privilege of the more powerful nations. It's extremely cynical if you consider the perpetual state of misery other countries and other humans live in...

Anyway, thank you Painaid, Klinda and Falkor. :)
