EU+US Playing healing specs offensively in BGs...

Find it hilarious resto shaman lightning bolt tooltip does more damage than the ele version
I may be wrong, but I think most or all damage-dealing abilities that Resto Shaman have access to actually do more damage in Resto spec than Elemental.

There is nothing more satisfying on my druid than being the reason you win a team fight by healing and then switching to bear form to smack down some cuck horde.

Yea, I think it violates basic RPG class distinction. Healers SHOULDN'T be damage dealers. I'm alright with maybe having one ability that can make a DPS think twice about engaging, like a monks kick. This trend of seeing healers also doing top or near top damage output is pretty stupid though.

But that ain't gonna stop me from taking advantage of it

healers have the highest dps, ret pally has the highest burst heal, a leather wearer is the most tanky, all types of fucked up going on, but honestly i really like the current meta

I see a lot of potential with MW monk, i love the passive they have. I'll be going offensive pretty big, i'll heal of course, but i imagine i'll aim to be a sort of "support" player, than just pure healing tbh.

My biggest thing with it is to just make sure you are still healing, and playing your role.

If you're playing your role, then who cares if you go offensive, too? But if you aren't healing anyone, and queued as a healer with the intention of doing damage (regardless of spec), then that's detrimental to the BG a lot of times.

That being said, I also find it highly silly to see so many classes do high damage output as heals. I'd be okay with one battle priest style class/spec, but the current trend is a bit odd to me and not something I'm a fan of. Then again, I also enjoy tanks in PVP. So it's all a matter of preference and opinion, really. :)
The crazy damage is a byproduct of low level levelers who need a way to kill quest mobs as a healer solo in questing

Ya and it's a good thing that this kind of stupidity won't exist in classic. Like how bad do have to be at your job to make healers do more damage than actual dps.

Classic was a pain in the proverbial for healers though. Shite dmg which made questing take even longer. So you had to quest in a dps spec and then try to heal instances in your dps spec, or else respec for instances which was super expensive.

On the subject of healers dps-ing in BGs - I got no issues with it. Healers don't win battles so much as 1. tactics and 2. dps do. In that order. (And I say that as a healer main).

I heal the hell outta people when I'm in a BG but when I play dps I never play as though I expect heals, I consider them more of a nice surprise on the rare occasion that I get one. And when people put all the blame on healers for losing BGs, pfff. It's much more likely to be caused by inadequate 1. and 2. above.

I had a ton to say, but @Chops and the rest of y'all covered most of it already. Specs are more guidelines than they are rules, optimizing for what's best in any given moment takes far greater priority than the default of what any role is "supposed" to do. If killing a target after interrupting their healer will end a threat faster than keeping up a couple of dps who are stuck on autoattack, then yes, take 'em down even if you lose a teammate in the process. I wish healers didn't do as much damage (and I say that as a healer main), but as @SupremeChaos said, this bonkers meta actually works really well.

I think its as appropriate for a healing spec to sometimes play very aggressively as it is for a hybrid spec to sometimes cast a few key heals. It would be under utilization of your spec if you didn't use your damage, healing, and utility spells no matter what your spec is. It would be equally wrong to ignore healing all together and just do dmg, at low lvls there are limited tools but you should use all of them.
