Playing both US and EU servers

Here's a simple thing I tried and that worked for me:

  • Instead of downloading anything I copied my entire US installation into another folder.

  • In the copy, I opened the file Config.wtf in the WTF folder in a text editor (I used a code editor because Mac TextEdit screws code up sometimes).

  • I changed two lines (first two lines for me, but they might be somewhere lower in the row of
SET blah, depending on what your client wrote last).

From:

SET locale "enUS"
SET installLocale "enUS"

to:

SET locale "enGB"
SET installLocale "enGB"

  • Saved and that was it. Can log both into EU and US now.

So just to make sure, I need to make a new folder with the full 19 gigs of WoW and then do the changes you illustrate to use WoW interchangeable on both the EU and US servers?

If you have the room. Or you could change the file between enUS and enGB every time you want to switch.

Or copy Config.wtf into 2 files: Config.wtf.eu, and Config.wtf.us, editing them appropriately, and use 2 batch files to copy the right version into Config.wtf, then launch the game.

I followed until blue mate, then you lost me. What does "two batch files" mean? Or do you mean just copy/paste into the game files when needed?

I guess my addons etc would be safe since I would have to configure it anyway, and it would treat my EU/US accounts as different accounts.

The only trouble would probably be a little bit of slightly slow loading after each switch.

So I did this and made a US account. It is not opening the US account at all. (WoW I mean)

Edit: Never mind. You have to open the launcher first. Will provide updates as I keep going.
