Playing both US and EU servers

So I'm trying to make a toon on Aggramar EU, but every time I download a separate EU client it overwrites my US client. I've tried downloading to different folders, and I've uninstalled both clients and reinstalled them several times, still no luck. Does anyone have any different ways to do this?
 
Disinstall and reinstall each time you switch,depends on how fast your computer downloads to be worth it.
 
Can't you setup two different user accounts on your windoze?
 
im using wow eu and wow us on 2 different client and work fine. there both installed on C:\ not C:\Program files. that might help.

But when i open my EU client its starts the background downloader for my us account which is lame, 6k ms isnt cool.
 
Heard from a GM the loader has changed since MoP. It's different from US to EU and makes it very complicated, but no i don't know how :/
 
Here's a simple thing I tried and that worked for me:


  • Instead of downloading anything I copied my entire US installation into another folder.

  • In the copy, I opened the file Config.wtf in the WTF folder in a text editor (I used a code editor because Mac TextEdit screws code up sometimes).

  • I changed two lines (first two lines for me, but they might be somewhere lower in the row of
SET blah, depending on what your client wrote last).


From:

SET locale "enUS"
SET installLocale "enUS"

to:

SET locale "enGB"
SET installLocale "enGB"

  • Saved and that was it. Can log both into EU and US now.

IM having many vertions of wow 2.4.3, only way to have them not fuck each other up is to rename them.

I didn't, but what I did try was downloading the EU client to a different folder. It didn't work, might be because as Junoo said they were both in Program Files. I'll try what Yde/Miacon said and see if that works.

edit: changing the files that Yde said to works perfectly, though it does connect to the server a little more slowly the first time.

How are EU games compared to US?

I haven't played on US servers myself but from what I've heard from people that have, Horde PuG's in EU are much better than US. Or something like that.

Don't worry, Ally still has longer queues of about 12-14 minutes whereas Horde is at 1-2 minutes (even instant).

They're probably the same. Heavily reliant on 24s and healer classes.

Alliance queues aren't that long anymore btw. I get pops in roughly 5 - 10 minutes throughout the day.
