Placing Bets on Twink Cup

Drdeals

Legend
When the time comes and the ladder is out, would anyone out there be willing to make a twink cup bracket? Similar to a march madness bracket but guilds maybe $5 per bracket entry winner gets 1/2 the pot 2nd and 3rd would split the other half, just seeing if there's any intrest

This has been brought up before. I don't think Myrm or anyone affiliated with the CUP is willing to set this up.
The problem is finding someone trustworthy to organise this. And if real cash would even be an option, as gold was mentioned.

It's all risky business, but the idea of a pot is pretty smart.

Whatever team picks me and kidneypopper up as free agents... at least him he really gud. But id be down for a pool

I already thoroughly looked into this. I even contacted Broken about this in PM.

Apparently, eSports is now counted as sports for betting purposes by the FBI (even fantasy esports).
With that in mind, I highly suggest you don't bet with real money. This is illegal.
edit: Not sure how vulcun / others get around it but I would tread on the side of caution with this one.. I'm not lookin for jail time.

Gold should be fine.

Not illegal for anyone outside of the US

Finally someone is asking the right questions around here! Fuck yea I wanna put some money down on the tournament. I wouldn't mind organizing it through Paypal either. It'd be nice if I had some help with bracket submission though. As far as the legality, are you for real? The FBI? Lmao. This is fucking 19 twinking and were talking about a pot of at most like $300-400 dollars - even if we bump it up to a $10 dollar buy-in (which I'd like to do). Anyway. I'll have a talk with Tollo in Skype today and try to flesh out the details. As far as I'm concerned I'll take my chances with the fucking FBI over $400 in a bloody twink tournament. I would hope they've got more important things to worry about.

Anyone on the forum could be from the cybercrimes unit...
In addition, we may draw even more attention from Blizzard even if the tourney does not go over the $10,000 limit. Gambling is against their tournament rules.

/cheers

Gambling isn't illegal. It's frowned upon, like masturbating on an airplane... Maybe since 9/11 when everyone got so damn sensitive. Thanks a lot Bin Laden!

In all but a few of the states of the U.S. gambling is illegal. Furthermore, illegal gambling is seen as a Federal crime if it is done as a business. Gambling laws vary by state.

"Betting on any sport, including e-sports, is illegal in the United States, except for in some capacity in Nevada, Delaware, Oregon, Montana and, pending a legal battle, New Jersey. (The exception in most states is horse racing)."

I mean, TI terms of conduct aside (not sure if illegal activity is allowed by mods), it's still something people should be aware of before placing bets. I don't personally care if people do things (without getting into politics, I tend to aire on the side of liberty), I just don't want to see 20 of my homies going to jail for something stupid.

Mind you, our community is tiny and the money on the line would be insignificant, it's still important to know the rules before you break them.

Very true, Artonkn lol. Just run the betting ring through you and use Euros instead of USD.. or for that matter, bitcoin.

Ill hyu on skype later today about it, Drugs.
