Opening BC Heriocs - Dungeon Finder

you need to get honored doing quests or select "specific dungeons" using dungeon finder to get faction rep and then go purchase herioc keys from faction quartermasters at:



-Honor Hold or Thrallmar in Hellfire Peninsula Flamewrought Key

-CE in zangarmarsh Reservoir Key

-sha'tar in shattrah Warpforged Key

-Lower City in shattrath Auchenai Key

-Keeper of Time in Caverns of Time Key of Time



once you get those 5 keys that will open a lot of heriocs and be able to earn more badges to purchase epic gear.



Magisters Terrace you have to do a quest tree that will take you into the regular version, follow the whole tree and on final turn in unlocks herioc version. quest given at isle of quel'danas by Exarch Larethor at lvl-70. herioc Magisters Terrace has many nice epic drops....better than any other 5-man herioc



Caverns of Time, you need to go into COT and do the introduction quests at lvl-65 which will set you up for regular Escape from Durnholde, and then Black Morass. do those till honored so you can buy key.



if you are building a epic 70 with no 80 help, the more epic pieces you are wearing the better your chances of getting into a group of 80's running BC raids for their achievements, etc. Many 80's generally do not want to carry green and blue wearing 70's in their runs and will limit or not allow 70's on BC raid runs. from my latest experience in a failed 70 twink guild, many of the 70's did not want to get keyed and expected to run with 80's on BC raids. imo, it helps to get keyed and work on badges for epics or drops, over waiting weeks to get into random 25 man runs. also, most 70's are only keyed for the 3 HFP instances, the groups you tend to get in those are 85%+ wipes right at the start. i just got another player to 70, got him keyed and i use "select specific" specific and leave the HFP ones unselected

awhile back i started the tree but never find groups for BC instances to finish, when dungeon finder came out i qued for specific dungeons needed for quest chain and got the key. although as a rogue i never needed to key because i can pick the lock, i have found having the key, helps getting into 80 achievement runs. especially when you ask to go, and link the key. i was virtually signing autographs and answering questions after last Kara run. so as a keyed 70.....remember Kara fast...real fast, because 80's will ask you to go back to the front and let others back in, etc. if there is no warlock

- First Key Fragment is in Shadow Labyrinth at Auchindoun.

Step 5: The Second and Third Fragments

- Second Key Fragment is in The Steamvault at Coilfang Reservoir.

- Third Key Fragment is in Arcatraz at Tempest Keep

Step 6: The Master's Touch

- take Restored Apprentice's Key to Medivh inside The Black Morass in the Opening the

Dark Portal wing of the Caverns of Time and he will turn it into The Master's Key after you

complete dungeon



optional:

Step 7: Return to Khadgar

Step 8: The Violet Eye
 
Optional key.....no longer required for Tempest Keep



Key to the Arcatraz, is still worthwhile key to get if you are staying at 70 and having it and linking it to 80's will usually help in them letting you join when they farm Tempest Keep for mount. below is the set-up quests, using dungeon finder for the specific dungeons helped me get key

ETIQUETTE, my recommendations when running with 80's. Your actions could kill your future chances and other 70's getting into raids.



- do not roll on stuff you don't need such as:

-- greens or blues (even if you are a ench)

-- BC gems & recipes (even if you are a JC)

-- rep items

-- epics not for your class

-- epics not better than the ones you are wearing

-- would not recommend rolling on alternate spec gear, unless you ask up front



- some 80's are broke, they will roll on epics you need just to vend:

-- DO NOT nerd rage claiming you should get it and say I'M THE 70....etc....etc

-- be fast, whisper the winning 80, offer 20G per say for a item that vends for 11G

-- don't be overly cheap, if 80's on your server rarely run TK, SSC, BT, SWP, etc. or once a week if that. offering more may be the smart way to go.

-- if 80's do BC raids a lot, be patient, there is always next week and different 80's

-- some 80's will announce LFM BC raid, free roll, 80's only, it helps to know a item you want and whisper that you are paying gold for item "??????"



- some 80's want epic sets or legendary items they never had at 70 or 60

-- tell them you are not interested in them.....and don't roll

-- if you ask many times 80's will trade it to you or sell it.



- never trust other 70's in the game you don't truly know personally. if a 80 is doing a LFM BC raid and your ingame buddy 70 may want to go, have the 70 whisper on his own to join. that way if they do something stupid, greedy, etc. it won't cause you to get booted from raid or trash your reputation.



- some 80's are really into the 10 point achieves

-- MOUNTS.....never roll and always pass. this will be your death sentence if you win or ninja a mount over a 80 even on a run that was a free roll run.....PASS!

-- PETS...whether H-MGT or ZA, never roll or need on a item that can get a pet

-- try not to interfere or out achieve a 80 in raids. example: was on a SSC run, group went down into the water to where the wooden circle is. 80's asked "roll on who gets to fish"? leader said "no, just fish". i didn't fish due to 15+ were fishing and had no clue what they were fishing for. no one was catching anything, raid leader said "everybody needs to fish achieve or not". so i equipped my +25 pole with +3 line, put a +75 lure on it. and on first cast huge boss appeared and i got a achieve. HUGE MISTAKE, should have said: i never learned fishing or pole is in bank. 4-5 lvl-80's left the raid right then with comments like "WTF a 70, etc. etc." some that stayed were pissed and asked me what my fishing was at (375) what pole, etc. we didn't have enough when it came down to the main boss fight, 80's got pissed when they died, raid leader gave up, whole run collapsed.

For those wanting to farm only MgT heroic for the mount, you can delete all your heroic keys, relog and then queue up for the random LFG system and it will give you MgT-H each time even if you have done it before on the same day (aka are saved).

beware if you que for MgT. 1st off it will prolly take a long time since most people now a days dont get attuned to heroic. even if they do they'll prolly be rusty and think its another breeze instance, when its actually a bit harder than normal. and even if you manage to clear it pretty painlessly, and the mount drops, all 4 other will roll against you!

even in reg mgt ive had horrible experiences. like this: wait ~30mins in que. get there, the tank is a lvl 71 or 72 druid. he has a 1h dagger equipped. in bear form he has less hp than my pally in full dps gear (and this was when i 1st hit 70 so i wasnt decked out in s4 or t6/6.5, etc. heck i didnt even have t4). he cant hold aggro, pulls more than one group at start. we wipe. go again, kill one grp. try to by pass the 2nd grp at fountain, he pulls them by accident. wipe again. group breaks apart; i vow never to que for mgt again. healer and dps were also terribad people. just do it with guildies, trust me!
 
dungeon finder can be a cruel joke by Blizz

Herioc or regular MGT, i have seen the same. DF putting players even in r-MGT which is almost as difficult as other heriocs at 68 is a cruel joke. when MGT & SWP where put into the game as boredom pacifier's even guilds wouldn't or couldn't carry a 68 wearing quest gear from 59-68 if that. whats nice about either MGT is that you know your group sucks at the very start and won't make it far.



Mechanar is another joke, back in BC usually only 70's ran it along with other TK instances, because you had to have flying which was 70 only. also rare for guilds to warlock summon a ill geared 68 and carry them. as with MGT wipes often occur at the very start when a ill geared tank pulls all 12 or so mobs at the very start. or your healer, is not truly a healer....like a feral druid who slaps on some random cloth items with empty sockets.



i still used select specific dungeons and after 9 times (no joke) got R-MGT done and around 17 times top get H-MGT done on just one 70. all this occured ealry after DF was new. now some dungeons you will be qued for along time.



this has been my new method to get H-MGT done. i hit SOCIAL on bottom bar, then in WHO just type in "MAGIS" or "ISLE OF Q" and refresh. i do this to see what 80's are on the island or in the instance. i ask if i can join, tell them what item i need. may even offer some gold for items if they drop. it's even nicer if it's a 80 who can solo it, that way they can ML last boss for the mount drop. it save time having to convince 2-3 80's you are not interested in the mount
 
I honestly can't see what you guys are complaining about.



I farm Heroic MgT 2-8 times a day without a problem. Yes there is a fair few well geared players in my bg group at 70, but 90% of the people I used are in greens / blues from leveling. For me when the instances comes up, I'm happy (I don't go oh no, inc wipe fest). If I see my healers gear is blue missing gems and enchants I don't care because normally it works in the end.



Sometimes we wipe on the third boss because healer is too squish or something but that's it.



I don't know, maybe I'm just a pro tank or you guys have absolute retards each time?
 
uhhhh if you're a twinked out 70 tank it SHOULD be easy. you can easily get ~25-30k depending on class. SO SHUT THE FUCK UP



im a dps. when you have shitty and undergeared healers AND tanks its an impossible run. you can only do so much dps w/o pulling aggro and dying. you can only sit back and watch as the tank pulls multiple mobs and dies from having no hp/defense and the healer sucking. its retarded to try and farm as dps with levelers (not to mention time consuming). its easier to run with your guild or find 80s to run you and pay them in case the mount drops
 
Excuse me but I have run heroic MgT with as all three different roles on my different characters, as well as at all stages of gear levels incluidng me being in fresh blues from leveling etc.



I don't appreciate being told to "shut the fuck up" just because you don't agree with what I said. If you are so insecure about not being able to do something when others can then maybe you should look to your self for self improvement before trying to make excuses as to why things can be so easy for others.



TLDR: LEARN TO PLAY AND GROW UP DIPSHIT.
 
dungeon finder groups are generally dependent on quality of levelers in your battlegroup. sometimes you get back trackers who are 71-75 in WotLK greens/blues which is good gear, who are doing achieves. those players are a big help, but that is becoming rarer



when it comes to H-MGT i personally can't see a pro-70 tank carrying some of the ill geared players i have seen. especially when healer is OOM after 2-3 heals. your luck in getting good groups has been better than mine.



i have two DPS 70's geared in S2/Guardian, they aren't even PVE or truly top ench/gemmed. use like 50AP to weapon instead of 65AP, mongoose, beserking, etc. and pull aggro. have had to use less spell/ability attacks, unpoison my blades, or use cheaper arrows to keep from being the tank.

Omen + patience always help as well :)



Good luck in getting better groups in the future though.

hey dip shit nice come back. i especially like the part about growing up, and then insulting me; that was rich.

anyways you're the one who said its such an easy instance when you run it on your twinked out tank. its not easy when your dps and relying on shitty tanks and heals. its all dependent on levelers and your bg ofc...but clearly the majority of players find mgt and h mgt a struggle. oh and omen isnt enough. not pulling aggro off the tank is nice, but it doesnt matter when the tank pull 2-3 groups at once and gets overwhelmed.
