Old twink

I haven't twinked in forever. When I did, a "good" twink had leg enchants, librams on their goggles, (engineering was required) tons of other enchants, and you had to spend forever getting gear. I had a lock, and I remember having to do some ridiculous quest chain to get green shoulders.

Anyways, from what I've heard twinking is completely different now. I looked into it a little, and was amazed at how much it's changed in a few years. I'd like to get into twinking again but it doesn't look like I'll have as much fun. To me, it looks like 85 PvP only you're at a lower level; everyone should have the same gear, enchants, etc. It's not noob PWNing anymore.

Another thing tha concerns me is heirlooms. My main is on Blackrock, which isn't a server I'd want to twink on. (Lack of twink guilds, I'm in an EST time zone, horrible community.)

So is twinking fun now? Obviouslly everyone here is going to say yes because it's a twinking site, but would a veteran twink from the TBC era have any fun playing it now?

I'm a TBC Twinker and I can tell you it's 100% different, you might love it, you might not. I enjoy some of the things that were implented since TBC like Exp-Off Vs. Exp-Off BG or No-longer any Patch legs/Head Enchant/Shoulder enchants, I also enjoy the fact that you can turn off Exp and do things outside BG (Like Achievement, Dungeons and More) Without risking to Level. There's some point that I dislike, like movement increasing speed on shaman or on druids. I also dislike some of the ability that were added to the game. Some abilities that were added were really interesting as some other were just too much. At the end it depends on how you see things.

Im a pre-bc twinker... Pre-bc was better in my opinion. with many items being grandfathered and skills being changed and etc.. and heirlooms , the twink scene has changed significantly since pre-bc.

Nevertheless, its still fun :>

twinking is fine without heirlooms, slight disadvantage but its not noticeable

I have twinked for 4 years now, i can say its more LOLHUNTERS than it used to be, a little more burst because of the lack of HP, but overall with the new abilities and no noobs filling the bgs (sadly, idk how some bads find the xp off guy and pay 10g) its better than TBC. Just like Bankbeauty said, with turning off exp doing achievs and such is great at passing que times :)

Pre-bc twinker. As posted above, its 100% different. It definitely is easier to gear your toon. Little cheaper too because of expansions. I just noticed that it didn't help much. Lol. Anyway, BoA's are a little over the top but I would try it out, but pick your class very carefully before you make it.

Finished my first twink paladin about 5 days before TBC came out. Got every fucking exploit going by TBC. To be completely honest I don't like how paladins have become so OP but I do like flash of light it's more the exorcism spam that annoys me. At first BoA's annoyed me because people got them so quickly but after you even yourself out with everyone there is tiny bit more skill involved. I must admit Rogue v Rogue is kinda ridiculous right now and I liked it more when duels used to last 5 even 10 minutes sometimes. Me vs Other rogues (other than ryrith who is really good at slipping away etc) last about 10-30 seconds now wether I win or lose.

To conclude,

Twinking has changed so much you may not even recognise someone is a twink until you inspect them because a lot of levelers have the BoA's. Dunno if anyone has mentioned this yet but BoA's are also really expensive now... Have fun.

I feel that class balance has improved since BC, with the exception of hunters. Giving each class their core talent abilities was an awesome change imo.

Yes there were... just not at launch.

If you cant stand fighting people with the same gear, and just want to ''pwn noobs'' then get out. This part of the game is not for you, unless you make a hunter. Then its the same thing as ''pwning noobs''.

With all the influx of new poorly geared players, your opportunity to "own Noobs" is still here. LOL. But I dont think anyone is left playing at 19 to do that. Its about the challenge, if you need to kill noobs go level through xp on bgs.

there are some old twinkers around; i myself 'twinked' a charachter pre bc; back when ther was no xrealm bgs. Originally it was only realm BGs (only your realm), then it grew to xrealms and then they seperated the realms to battlegroups. pre bc twinking was any green gear with more than 4 stam. Not sure if anyone remembers the quest from teldrassil which offerd a 4 stam 3 strength staff (that was my wep!) something wilderness.

Xrealms and Battlegroups happened at the same time, they numbered the groups originally instead of naming them.

Now you have 19 rogues with shadowstep, 19 hunters with explosive shot, etc. Imo it's basically like lvl 70 pvp, if you will, at 19, meaning stun locks and practical 1 shots happen more than 5 minute duels with Fry in the horde resto tent.

my 2 copper is that oldschool twinks = skill > gear > class

new school twinks = class > toon with boas > skill > the rest of the gear.

(especially with every toon having extreme movement and range in wsg, which was one of the main reasons why old 19s were pro, imagine 2 level 1 warriors dueling in northshire abbey instead of a warrior vs shamen crutching on mass stuns, and overall class mechanics, instead of pure skill)

Toons are getting too overpowered to make the bracket what it was, 19s were awesome because it was the most pure/simple form of pvp in the game that was active, and reliable on skill at most.

(this post was not directed towards Duckhunt btw, i respect his opinion, just giving my 2c)
