Seems pretty aggressive, and possibly offensive considering the subject. This probably wouldn't be seen as offensive if the subject wasn't sexuality, but you have to consider the delicacy of the topic when commenting.

All 3 abrahamic religions are homophobic. The problem isn't necessarily islam, its the underdevelopment of the muslim world. Just look at African christians, they are just as unaccepting.

Even though I know that a large portion of Turkish people are against homosexuality, I attribute that to their ignorance to the subject, not because they are bad people.

Despite Turkey being a muslim country, it is the only muslim country that holds pride parades. The 2 main opposition parties support gay marriage. Turkey is homophobic, but change is happening, not because we are a muslim country, but rather because as a country becomes wealthier, more educated, people become less ignorant to these subjects. Its slow, but we are moving from a developing country to developed (still a few decades away), and social changes happen along the way.

i dont wanna crush your hopes (and i also know a lot of turkish citizens might think different about it than the rest of the western world) but with a leader who acts like he wants to build another ottoman empire i highly doubt your country is getting more tolerant towards things they dont like

I didn't want to go into politics since Turkish politics are a shitshow, I could write hours about how much of a peice of shit our president is, but he is a populist. He says whatever the public wants to hear. Just recently, someone from his party said "secularism should not be in the constitution", he got so much backlash that he had a publicly apologize, and even Erdogan said that secularism will never be removed from the consitution (91% of Turkish people are in support of secularism). He knows his boundaries, and even in the past, before he went batshit crazy, he was in support of LGBT protection laws.

all i tried to say is that turky was way more tolerant maybe 10? years ago and it went systematically worse from then to now, thats why i dont understand your "change is happening" statement, especially considering (as you alrdy mentioned) the way erdogan distants "his" country from the west

Change in government and change in people are completely different things. Athiesim is rising faster than ever, younger generations are dressing more openly (even if their parents are covered), gay issues are being talked about, 20 years ago there is absolutely ZERO discussion of gay issues. I'm very aware of how bad of a government we currently have, but they wont stay in power forever, as long as the people change, the government will eventually follow.

I can appreciate his opinion that everyone should just mind their own business. I personally don't care whether someone is straight, gay, a furry, etc. I can understand that people feel empowered by announcing their self-identity to the world, but feel it can sometimes go overboard. It is only a delicate topic if one makes the conscious decision to become offended.

I agree, although his attitude was just off considering he could've just stayed away from the thread.

And you don't chose to be offended, when you've been discriminated to the point where you can't openly express your sexuality, I get why you would get offended when someone tells them 'who cares' and that we should all 'myob'

One can definitely choose to act offended, especially in an online setting where it doesn't involve face-to-face interaction or real life ramifications. I'm not claiming that discrimination doesn't take place, especially in a country like Turkey that doesn't have Western values, but the internet is a very different place.
