Just stopping by to say hi, briefly introduce Snack Pack and ask a few quick questions...

Who we are:
We're a new 39 alliance guild on Jaedenar. Mostly old WoW friends who twinked at 29 and 39 years ago. We saw a possible resurgence and one thing led to another and we're here. At this point most of us have family lives, so we won't be queuing every night, but you're likely to bump into us in small groups.

We have a variety of backgrounds, but we all agree that we play to win, not sit around farming GYs etc.

Who I am:
Not the guild leader. :) If I'm on and we don't have a team running, I'm in 39 community and open to running with other alliance. I'm not great by any stretch, in fact, I haven't played WoW at all since a stint in Legion. But I do have all roles covered between my druid, Flipz, and my monk Rolo, and I'm up to play anything .

A few questions:
I'm still getting up to speed on the WoW changes and even more specifically twink changes from when I last played (head librams were a thing)...
1.) I see talk of war games, is this just timed queues of multiple 5 mans?
2.) How often does alliance use voice chat for BGs?
3.) Are there any accurate DPS tools for twinks? Simcraft? Ask Mr Robot?

Thanks and look forward to seeing you on the battlefield!

Xpoff discord is popping for ally 39s when the old nightfall 39s get on. Otherwise it's dead.

Nice seeing the realm Jaedenar around. Fond memories.

Hey man,

Saw your post and decided to take a stab at your questions, and also extend an invitation to you and your guildies.

1) Wargames are a new(er) feature that allow you to skip the random battleground queue and set up a match vs a specific team. This can be versus horde or alliance, but essentially your group and another group would use this feature to guarantee facing each other instead of trying to time the queue. Check out this link for more info: https://wow.gamepedia.com/War_Game
2) Unfortunately alliance is quite bad at using comms during fights, which is a gripe of mine and other more veteran alliance players. The way to fix it is simple, hop in discord! The horde players are in there every night for BGs and arenas, but they also just like shooting the breeze. Everyone is very friendly in there so I encourage everyone to use comms!
3) Tools like Simcraft and Mr Robot are only designed to min/max endgame max level players, so you can't effectively use those tools on xpoff toons. There is an addon called DejaCharacterStats, which lists out ALL of your characters stats in an exhaustive but user friendly manner, since the WoW UI now hides many useful stats. I use that addon to help me min/max certain stats, as well as check on what my characters actual damage is.

Now, my invitation to you and your friends is, come join me and my guild ,<birthday massacre> on Stormrage! Way back in the day, periodic migrations occurred to concentrate xpoff character populations to a few specific servers. Right now the horde have done that on Bleeding Hollow, and the largest population of alliance xpoff toons reside on Stormrage. But there are still a few pockets of alliance scattered on various low-mid pop realms, which doesn't help bring alliance players closer together IMO. Also, the major benefit to concentrating on one server is the new item economy. Scaled world epics are now a thing for 39's, and the only way to get them is to group up and farm them out in the world. This takes a SIGNIFICANT amount of time, and plenty of luck, as the drops are all random.

By either transferring your characters, or starting new ones on Stormrage, we can all band together to make the pain of gearing everyone's character more bearable. Stormrage also has an excellent economy, so many times a random person will list the exact item you need for a reasonable price.

I hope this was all helpful to you. Welcome back to you and all your friends, and I hope you all can join me!

Haven't had a queue time since probably an expansion release like WoD, and that's with playing on servers like Illidan, Emerald Dream, Stormrage, etc.

As for 'simming' it's doable but not without incredible oversight. There's a lot of settings that need to be toggled and even then it doesn't paint a perfect picture, especially not for every class. I personally toyed around with SimCraft to look at decaying secondary stat appreciation for my Fury. You need the actual software, RaidBots etc are just for 120 and even then, there are settings only in SimCraft.

@DigitalChemyst - Looking at the in-game realm selection, it shows Stormrage as a full server. Have you experienced any queue times? Would hate to transfer to a server to always be stuck in queue to play.

Hey good question man! No I've not experienced any issues with login queues!

Welcome guys! Definitely seen you in some BG's always a treat to have some new players join (Esp on alliance)
1.Wargames are usually run on Friday's and Saturdays (Mostly Fridays for now) and we have a 10v10 CTF or 12 or 15 on both teams for arathi basin.
2.We are ALWAYS using some sort of discord.
3.Not sure usually do scaled dummies myself but I don't think you can get super specific on the DPS sims.

Would love to have you guys on real ID so we can chat about wargames, add me up Vehemence#1268

Thanks for the offer DC. We have about 10-12 people with a lot of mains (used to raid after our previous time twinking) on Jaedenar and we are solid on twink items/ah. Definitely look forward to seeing you in game.

It seems like trial and error while beating up a practice dummy may be best. Ultimately it's not just about highest DPS over 2min, but more about securing the kill.

Thanks, I'll add the Discord info this week and try to swing by. Side note, I'm pretty sure I stopped by your Twitch stream last night for a few minutes. I'll shoot you a Real ID invite later today.

For sims I was using 40s to 1minute windows. I still find it immensely helpful for stat weights and I encourage everyone to do a little number play. I know people looking into diminishing returns on Arcane Mage haste, general versatility scaling, etc.
