Hello!

I got good and bored with the chore of pursuing iLvl upgrades for end-game TWW (at the advent of the most current season), and decided to try and (mostly) Min/Max a random toon of mine. Settled on a 60 Dwarf Pally, playing Prot. Feverishly tanked TBC timeline dungeons until a saw a toon with XP disabled in Stormwind (like mine!). It was a Rogue that had iLvl 415 weapons - and it was my first time seeing that iLvl on a 60! I started to talk to the player, and this player was a treasure trove of helpful information and helpful actions.

~2 weeks in, I still know very, very little - but have produced a toon that very, very easily solos most any Dungeon I wish to farm.

I am looking to learn much more about the mechanics that can be leveraged to make more characters like this! Please let me know what I ought to know!

Best,

SgoMichael

You already have a good chunk of the basics, lock your level (watch out for free trials if you unlock it and occasional patches have also caused levels to gain) and optimize gear. The beauty of this is that once you get a good gear set, it can last you years. As for more advanced stuff, it depends on what you're looking for. There are some basic "loopholes" especially with the Lorewalking feature, and much more. Most of what you need to know is already scattered around this site if you dig for it.

For mechanics specifically, you already know the most important things, gear and where to find most of it. The rest comes down to getting enchants, gems, buffs if you can, etc. The biggest thing to understand out of the gate is that the lower the character level generally, the more powerful they will be. The goldilocks levels are generally 11 for fastest farming, and 20 for long-term f2p.

Is there any suggestion as what to Class I should try next - so that I can dig deeper into this thing - for a solo'ing build?

I an an IRL friend that is willing to Leather stack a Monk and a Druid with me: Any suggestion of Spec comp? Of Profs?

Interested in any/all wild niche mechanics that are hidden in this meta!

Flavor of the month is level 11 fury warrior.

That said, patches upset the meta quite often and we're looking at a big one soon for Midnight. If you want something likely to last well, someone with a tank spec and self-heals tends to do well, as does someone with a pet that can tank for them. If you're on here and paying attention, you'll be figuring out the Midnight meta as it happens with the rest of us.

As far as professions there are two ways to go about it. If you still have a sub, you can get most of your supplies through the AH or alts. Engineering has historically been a strong pick when you can have everything supplied, with your other option being something that gives a good stat boost. TBD what the best secondary in Midnight is. If you expect not to, you'll be shuffling professions to get everything you want with the end goal being the same, but requiring going very far out of your way as you collect everything else in the meantime.
