New Mana Regen Mechanic 4.0.1

While I was checking how combat ratings and conversions worked at lower level for my druid, I stumbled across the new mana regen mechanic. It is not entirely new though. The new mechanics are explained by the author of the RatingBuster addon. The breakdown of all stats and ratings was posted on elitistjerks (see link below).

Combat Ratings at level 85 (Cataclysm)

The following concerns twinks:

# MP5 stat removed.

-> already widely known

# Five-Second-Rule removed. Its is now "Mana Regen while out of combat" and "Mana Regen while in combat", instead of "Mana Regen while not casting" and "Mana Regen while casting".

-> this leads to the assumption people without meditation wouldn't regen mana while in combat, however...

# All mana classes get a baseline Combat Regen of 5% of your Base Mana (The amount of mana you have with 0 Intellect).

-> for instance my druid has at level 39 the following:

1519 mana of which 695 via base int

This means I have a total of 1519 - 695 = 824 Base Mana

0,05 * 824 = 41,2 mp5 (rounded down as 41 in armoury)

# Spirit Regen formula is unchanged.

-> the formula is as follows:

SpiritRegen(SPI,INT,LEVEL)=(0,001+SPI*squareroot(INT)*BASE_REGEN[LEVEL])*5

where BASE_REGEN is a coefficient as given in the link.

As far as I know, this is an improvement for all mana using classes at low level. I am guessing the baseline Combat Regen stacks with the spirit regen.

P.S.: sorry if this was already common knowledge.
