Its the class or class that is most overpopulated during a patch. Usually for its simplicity and high damage potential with as few abilities as possible.

There are so few abilities at 20 that this does not apply (specifically, hunters are OP in part exactly because they have more buttons than others).

Hunters have been fotm almost every patch since Cataclysm 11 years ago. Exceptions being the pre 5.4 of Mists of Pandaria when there was resto druids, then in an interesting turn of development, prot paladins and prot warriors. Then WoD had a time when it was ferals and BM monks.
