My 19 Paladin was leveled by a GM by accident! UPDATE

So, I start getting by old school twinks up to speed and ran into a glitch in a questline getting gear for Daisan-Anub'arak. Open a ticket and 3 days later a GM asks me to hop off the account so he can hop on it and fix it. The quest has you dead in Azshara talking to a dead Dragon. When I do jump back on my XP had been turned back on and when I complete the quest it levels him. I immediately complain to the GM who is still on with me. He apologizes and says they never take a level back. I explained that it was due to no fault of my own and that he needed to fix it. He said he would escalate it and went and actually talked to the team that could do something about it. 2 weeks later (today) a GM grabs me and says he needed to use my account and that he would email me after it was ok to log back in. Get the email and login to find he is back to 19. Quests all cleared out and a few other things rolled back.

Glad to be back to 19. :D

glad to kwow there is a mechanism for a blizz employee to de-level someone.

Good to hear success stories with that situation - gratz on getting that fixed! I only know 1 person that was able to get a reversal on my server ( he deleted the character literally the second he dinged 20 and then put in a ticket for a restore - which was last saved at 19 wow side I guess )..the other few I know they wouldn't budge an inch.

This time, a GM actually lvled him up, so it'd be pretty damn unfair if he didn't get lvled back.

the ONLY reason GM's won't take it to a higher level, is because the people on the "higher levels" are busy fixing chicken spawn nodes...

I quote you and you say you, by yourself that you leveled your character, you have been lucky the way you shifted the truth...so the title of the thread is misleading...

If you can't double, triple, quadruple check EVERY time you complete a quest that your exp is locked especially when you let somebody else log in your character, it's your own fault...

Rejoice that they met you halfway...& get an happy ending

If only they would de-level the dozens of twinks out there that lvled apon logging on after pre-cata patch. Grats on your pally. As for the comment that it was a gm's fault i think all these lvled twinks where blizzard's fault none of us actually wanted to level they did it for us as we logged on.

It was up to you to probe around with your main, and make sure your toon had exp locked before hand, why would it be unlocked anyway ? When you see on your main "discovered orgrimmar" or whatever, you should have guessed something was oddly fishy...

Twinking used to be a true challenge, when there was no way to lock exp before, and people would brainstorm to avoid everything, and see every case scenario.

Hey, now when someone gets leveled they can open up a GM ticket and say that they got leveled by a GM. Maybe it'll work, who knows. It's worth a shot!

Had something similar happen to me this morning. My 10 priest was in Dalaran with 1 xp below ding, after either becoming unlocked or getting xp from the xp per level shrinkage, so I asked a GM to lock my XP in case I got a ding from going to org, but when he tried to do the XP lock it caused a ding (apparently there's a bug with the GM's XP locking feature that causes an XP gain).

In this case they couldn't revert the ding, so instead they offered to post all my soulbound items to a new alt. The poor GM was kept busy for ages because that character is also a bank alt with frostweave bags in every slot, and had tons of stuff to transfer to the new character. By way of an apology for me having to re-level the character (along with maxed mining and engineering), and the fix taking up a fair bit of in game time, they even offered me a paid service *gobsmacked*, so I got my 19 priest onto the account with my cloth heirlooms 8)

I'm am wondering if they offered the paid service because I might be a 'valued customer' seeing as I've been subscribing to 5 accounts since well before wrath, and have paid for an absolute ton of transfers already.

They completely changed my opinion of the GM team, and I just wish that having something good to say about the GM, I'd got a survey to fill in :(

I now have a level 1 with the grandfathered [Branding Rod] and [Ring of Scorn], and [Slayer's Band]. Ouch. I'm more likely to get decent use them of them in 10s though, if they ever pick up/get reasonably balanced, so I'll get round to levelling back to 10 as soon as I'm done updating a few more of my 19s.

Dead wrong. I was left with no alternative but to turn in the quest while dead. I never let anyone log on my character besides the GM who logged on to fix a glitched quest. The quest has you dead, so you can't run to shut off XP again of which I did not turn back on to begin with. So no, in fact it was entirely their fault. They fixed it taking a couple of weeks to do so.

Sorry but branding rod, ring of scorn and slayer's band on a level 1 looks more than OVERPOWER.

I have the same exact issue on my mage, I made countless amount of tickets and I always get the same kind of answer :'(

I was wondering what your ticket looked like? thanks

The issue started when I had a GM online with me who created the problem. So he did the follow through outside the system.
