I paid (partly) for college on a trumpet scholarship and was offered a jazz guitar scholarship at a different school.

Havent picked up either in over a decade. rip.

If you still have your instruments you should most definitely pick them up and play them again

I play acoustic and electric guitar and have a pretty wacky pedalboard mess around on too. I'm planning on eventually getting either a critter & guitari organelle or a teenage engineering op1 to add more textures to the looping stuff I mess around with. Pedals are way too fun...

Music has always been a huge passion of mine. I encourage anyone that has even a passing interest to give it a try. There's nothing better than the feeling of creating and performing music, even if its just for yourself.

How do you like the Count To Five? Been on the verge of buying one for like 2 years.

I really like it, I prefer mode 2 for reverse looping small ideas, or mode 3 for creating interesting sounding pads with the 3 playback heads. Mode 1 is cool too but I found you need to really tweak it with the secondary features, especially tweaking the high pass filter, to get the most out of it (which was annoying since it resets after its turned off). There's also a firmware update Scott put out with 3 new algorithms I haven't gotten around to yet. Between the r30 later in the chain, and the ct5, I can do some pretty cool textures to play over top of. It's made to be tweaked and messed around with though, so if you're just a set it and forget it kinda player it might be overkill.

its a made in japan vintage one from like 84. Was $40 locally off kijiji and had to get it obviously. It was gigged to hell from the last owner and might even outlast me!

I'd like to learn the piano, because it seems to be the foundation for lots of classical music. But I'd also want to learn a bit of music theory

Also, "piano guy" is way cooler than "guitar guy".

(music theory is fucking fascinating but also really quite simple. I highly recommend picking up a few books. You can learn the basics in a weekend and then spend years noodling around the edges)

Played trumpet for 5 years in highschool for the school band. My logic for choosing that instrument was that it had 3 pistons... how hard could it be? :p

I'm great with my tongue thanks to that decision.
