both affli and destro can put out a lot of burst actually since haunt resets if the target dies to it or with the debuff, seen 2k haunt crits with berserking after 7.1 on my lock where as chaos bolts been 1760 max but overall destro does more damage, now that we got life tap back affli can't oom like it did a lot in 7.0

- (Destruction) Entrenched in Flame duration reduced to 3 seconds (was 4 seconds).
- (Destruction) Focused Chaos now increases Chaos Bolt damage by an additional 100% (was 150%).
- (Destruction) Shadowburn now deals 20% less damage in PvP.

since conflagrate got nerfed I've gone back to affliction on my lock.
haunt hits and crits for more or less the same as chaos bolt with a lower casting time. affliction dot ticks still isn't anything amazing but still fun to dot spread nonetheless. desto burst is still the best of the two specs tho but you need 4-5 soul shards for it to work since chaos bolt cost 2 soul shards alone.

You should rarely run out of soulshards as destro, especially in mid fights, as shadowburn is the best execute.
Don't cast chaos bolt, it does the same damage as 2x shadowburn but has a cast time.

The fun of destro now is it's added complexity. Chaos bolt away, and refuel shards by judiciously using shadowburn and conflag.

this might work vs. levelers but you won't be able to take down any healer with a brain just by spamming shadow burn, from my experience anyway.

this is my xperience aswel, most destro's I meet, seem to get rly confused and resorts to a headless-chicken playstyle when they dont down u in 2 Shadowburn GCDs.
Aff is defo the way to go atm, for more competitive games, in my opinion.
