Mission: "Envycloth" - F2P Guide for BiS

Mission: "Envycloth"

With the popularity of the F2P community rapidly growing, and the ambition for top gear becoming more eager, I've decided to make a guide showing the best ways to farm one of the most sought after pieces of BiS (Best in Slot) gear for clothies. Yes folks, I'm talking Ivycloth Bracelets! For when adorning the cheap and easily attained Crystalline Cuffs is not enough, and when we all can't be lucky, like the lovely Ðecem, and her shiny Mindthrust Bracers. Ivycloth Bracelets become the goal of many dedicated F2Per's, wanting only the best for their twinks.

In my experiences of twinking at low level, one thing I've learned is that small numbers add up quickly. Whether it be the difference of +6 Armor (you Foreman farmers know who you are), or +8 Stam and a shield for a 1000 damage, every little bit counts. If you seek the maximum potential out of your character, then these gear upgrades can help.

Ivywhat?
Ivycloth Bracelets are level 20, world random, Uncommon quality bracers. With a wide range of different stat combinations that will either benefit you, or simply be a wasted drop. The stats Ivycloth will yield depend upon the random name. ('of the Eagle', 'of the Whale', 'of Stamina', etc.) The chances of getting the combo you desire may be slim, but a rewarding challenge, nonetheless. The BiS combo to farm will be 'of the Eagle' (+Intellect/+Stamina), either giving +3/+3, +3/+4, or +4/+3. Deceiving as it may appear on Wowhead.com, 4/4's do not exist. You can find a complete list of possible combinations here.

My Method:
In theory, I came to believe that farming rare spawns would have the highest chance of seeing Ivycloth and other items drop. Not only was I after the bracelets, but Ivycloth Boots for the +7 Stamina, Ivycloth Cloak for full Shadow spell power set, as well as Greenweave Gloves ('of the Eagle' +4 Int/+5 Stam) for full Stamina set. Basing my theory off Wowhead.com's data, I searched for every rare NPC that had my items in their loot table. I toured through Ashenvale, Duskwood, and Hillsbrad, getting to know the spawn locations, using target macros, and to see if these NPC's even existed (Wetlands was also a good zone, but I found it impractical due to the long distance as a Horde character). After confirming spawns, the farming began. Creating easier routes out of habit, time for each round gradually became less. You may also have a good chance of seeing these items drop in Black Fathom Deeps, or Stockade, as well as a small chance in Shadowfang Keep, and Wailing Caverns.

My Success:
The idea for this thread has been an ongoing process ever since my arrival on Aerie Peak. Farming rare after rare, I was determined to confirm Ivycloth was an active drop before writing a guide. Throughout my travels I've come across nearly every combo, multiple times, and in total I've looted 31 pieces of gear.
Here's a list:

Ivycloth Bracelets ~
  • 'of Arcane Wrath'
  • 'of Fiery Wrath' x2
  • 'of Frozen Wrath'
  • 'of Intellect' x3
  • 'of Shadow Wrath'
  • 'of Spirit'
  • 'of Stamina' x2
  • 'of the Eagle'
  • 'of the Owl'
  • 'of the Whale' x2

Ivycloth Boots ~
  • 'of Frozen Wrath'
  • 'of Spirit'
  • 'of Stamina'
  • 'of the Eagle'
  • 'of the Falcon'
  • 'of the Owl' x2

Ivycloth Cloak ~
  • 'of Arcane Wrath'
  • 'of Intellect'
  • 'of Spirit'
  • 'of Stamina' x2
  • 'of the Owl'

Greenweave Gloves ~
  • 'of Fiery Wrath'
  • 'of the Eagle' x2
  • 'of the Owl'
Disclaimer:
The methods I've shared in this thread will not guarantee your twink a pair of Ivycloth Bracelets or any other gear. As we all know, RNG is a bitch. With the grip of F2P restrictions holding firmly, we're limited to the ways we can obtain said items. These methods may increase your chances, but in the end, drop rates are still completely random. You may never see these pieces of gear.

Awesome.

You still jelly about my 4 Stam / 3 Int ones, Bizr? <3

And Bizr, you may want to note that those bracers can give 3/3 aswell, even more common than 4/3 or 3/4 altho this isn't desired.

Deceiving as it may appear on Wowhead.com, 4/4's do not exist.

Ivycloth Bracelets - Game Guide - World of Warcraft shows you which random enchants are available.

I did the same thing when you couldn't change the appearance of ugly items. Killing rares, but eventually got what I was after in Stocks. You'll see far more greens in dungeon runs per time spent than you will tracking down and killing rares. That said, if you're out and about looking for chests, and you see a rare, by all means kill it. They often spawn right near chests.

I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree. I often see 6 maybe even more rares when running chests; how many dungeons do you have to do to get 6 appropriate level greens? Not to mention, you have to roll for them if they drop. I think this is far better

I have too much of this "envycloth" the problem is that i have all of the wrong ones :(

Less than one dungeon. I reguarly see more than ten in a single Stocks run. Roll? I don't roll. I get run through. That said, even when I do random it, very few people need roll on greens. Also, rares often drop level inappropriate greens. I will have seen more than thirty greens in the time it takes you to kill six rares.

Man, I was seriously about to start a guide just like this! I'm trying to get Fortified Gauntlets of the Eagle 5/5 and Spiked Chain Wristbands of the Eagle 4/4 for my Holy Paladin at the moment, and I am close to getting them.

I'm not going to give it away yet, but there's something very interesting to be found in those zones in connection with obtaining greens fast. Good luck farming!
