So with the fact that Curley has been interviewed and this Showdown is very out there Im going to interview you to give the community an inside look into the challenger Williams.
Who are you?
I would consider myself an average guy who has a lot of love and respect for the 19 bracket.
When did you start twinking?
It definitely has been a long time, but sometime back in Vanilla. and why? I started playing my Paladin aka Oneidwilly and just fell in love. I heard of people playing more competitive so I thought I would give it a shot. I meet a lot of good people who helped me along the way. Back then you could do arenas via the skirmish feature, which I hope blizzard brings back because those where the good old days. I remember everyone who played a paladin went “spelladin spec, but I tried Ret that was something totally different and had a lot of fun and success. I remember playing a lot of members in arena from the guild called Engage. I dreaded fighting them, but after practice and time was able to compete and soon later was invited to join them. That is where I learned most of my twinking from.
Being the guild leader to Dynasty what do you think happened to that guild? You ever think about bringing it back?
The guild was created merely as a social guild that focused on playing with the friends that were formed over the years playing in the beginning. A lot of the original members of Dynasty still play today, which I think is awesome. It just shows you that this community and bracket is very tight and with all the changes Blizzard implements for the good or bad people stick through it, which makes this bracket/community unique. With that said I think the biggest problem with Dynasty was that we didn’t have the experience that some of the other guilds had. We were constantly recruiting new players and had more of an open door policy to those who wanted to join. I think back when Premades where happening we came across a lot of great players and some that needed work, but everyone was willing to sit out and give those who haven’t played a chance, which probably wasn’t the best strategy. Looking back we had some great times and amazing games. I think if we had a core group like some of the others we would have done alone better, but it was fun and I wouldn’t have changed anything.
Yes, all the time. I think if I did bring it back I would be more selective in the members to get that core group and practice and work together. To be honest I think right now the bracket is so worried about their epeen when most people would kill to get in a guild that has constant games going. Right now, I think we can provide that with Underground. We have more than enough players to field 2 teams and I think this time I would bring Dynasty horde and if there are anyone out there that is interested in fun games with Underground on a weekly basis without hate look me up on btag Willy#1410.
You are currently in underground, Why that guild?
Correct. Undergound has a lot of the core players what I played with back in the day.
What is your opinion of the 19 bracket? What do you think needs to happen to improve it?
The Competition is gone.
Why I say the Competition is gone is because I find myself 80% of the time getting into games that are 1sided and 20% where the sides are somewhat even making the games fun. No one wants to get farmed or have the opposing team drag a game on just to farm. To be honest I don’t think there is an easy fix for that. I think that if alliance rolled more ranged DPS it would allow Alliance to compete in the midgame, where Horde seems to dominate. I also think that Alliance has more new comers to the bracket than Horde, which by no means is a bad thing, but when you are facing the horde that tends to have set team it makes it really hard. Again, this isn’t always the case as this questions is more indepth and could take days to answer and break out all the pros and cons of each side.
Your probably one of the most respected twinks in the bracket, no matter what you play you tend to do well at it, why do you think that is?
I appreciate the compliment, but I don’t think I am great player I think I am a decent player. I have to admit back when I had more time to play I was a lot better. I took about a year off and now with my new job it doesn’t allow me to play as much as I would like. It is always good to have people call you out so that you can focus on that next time , which I can definitely thank DA for that haha. All in all I love to play my Rogue, Pally and BM I have a twink in every class, but I am still learning and don’t feel as comfortable as I would like with those other classes quite yet.
Anything suggestions you have to upcoming twinks?
I think the key to having a positive experience in the bracket is finding people you enjoy playing with. If you just pug and don’t try to make friends you will most likely leave with a bad taste in your mouth. There are plenty of guild that are actively looking. Be active and don’t get discouraged because it will happen more often than you think. Just remember tomorrow is another day and this game surprises you.
How do you feel about GY Containment (Farming)?
I don’t like it, but I will admit I have done it! It is more because I am sick of the Horde constantly doing it to Alliance that when I get the chance to participate I do, but I know it’s not a solution. Even though it is a great strategy I just think it hurts the games. Again, I could just be biased because I don’t play Horde, but it seems like this Alliance get GY camped more than Horde and alliance for the Majority still que after games, but when it is done to Horde they AFK and stop playing.
What is your opinion on AFKing?
AFKing can definitely hurt a team especially if people just AFK because they get mad if a team caps and then you still have 10+ mins left. Great games come down to the wire, but then again if your team Is just getting farmed and they don’t plan on ending the game I can see why people AFK, but then run the risk of games no popping of people AFK in mass. I think if you can stick it out just stay in ghost forcing the opposing team to end the game is the best choice, but I do understand why people would AFK under framing circumstances. I am guilty of that.
Are there any players that you enjoy playing with/against in BGs/Arenas?
I love playing with the members of Underground. (Great group of people) No one stands out that I like playing against. When I see people from BH I know it’s going to be a good competitive game and those are the games I like to be in. You learn that way.
Who is “The Twink”?
I don’t really think anyone is above any other twink. Everyone in the community is the Twink. Without them there wouldn’t be a Twink.
What would be the most memorial moment in your twinking career?
I have 3 actually. 1st catching the fishing hat on my paladin, which took me almost 5months to get. I almost gave up, but kept at it. 2nd Running Stationary Defense back in Dynasty that was fun! 3rd would be beating Check My Swag in a premade that Perzia posted on youtube I think it still there?
